Hi guys, probably been asked a billion times but can this version be jailbroken and what should i jailbreak it with? Thanks
sooo i jailbroke my kindle with winterbreak, finished everything and it was good then i deregistered my account it said it should be fine but when i did it KUAL disappeared, i went to do all the post jailbreak steps again but it wouldnt do the updates for them so i figured that my kindle still has the updates disabled but i dont have access to KUAL to re-enable them and idk how to fix it please help
I have already shared my experience with this used kindle 8th gen basic.
What happened So far: https://www.reddit.com/r/kindleindia/s/o4xr0BwgIY
Its screen froze to a book cover and it was not waking up and no response was there despite trying multiple revival tricks. After trying so hard to fix this myself, I received some suggestions from reddit community (Ok-Audience-6781) and I was told that there might be some issue with the battery 🔋. Either the battery is faulty or some issue with the wiring.
So I took my kindle to a friend who is also a mobile hardware technician. I told him the same thing, he unplugged the battery from the board but nothing happened on screen. while keeping the battery unplugged from the board, he plugged the charger, still no response on the screen so he unplugged the charger also. But when he plugged the battery to the again to the board, Surprisingly IT STARTED TO FUNCTION AGAIN (atleast for now). And the smile on my face it brought was so satisfying.
I still dont know how and why it happened but atleast now I know what to do in this case.
Thanks for helping
Solved - needed to download a DeACSM, and then not open the file before transferring it to Calibre. Opening the file marked it as already being engaged with another device somehow, and stopped the plugin from working.
My process:
I've tried:
I can't figure out what's wrong. I did this in May with no problems. Did something update? Am I missing a step? Please help.
Please help me! I tried at least 10 times already, it is the same outcome every time. My storage is almost full, my kindle has 5.12 firmware (anyway not 5.18, not even close). What goes wrong?
It never writes that I can install hotfix now.
Thanks for the help in advance!
Hi, I just did the jailbreak a few days ago and it's been absolutely marvelous.
That said, I'm bit paranoid towards safety (like malware/leaking data). I DO trust the jailbreak itself and the more common features tested by thousands around the world, but I'm more concerned when installing more niche "extras", for example, a better dictionary for KOreader (StarDict format).
I've found a post on r/koreader with a Portuguese dictionary that has very few upvotes and comments. Is it something I should be worried? Or there's no real security risks here? Could a simple dictionary for KOreader come with malware or breach the safety of my Amazon account (adress, email, payment methods)?
I'm not a tech-savvy guy, but I searched and found out the StarDict basically needs ".ifx", ".dict", ".syn" and ".ifo" files. But other than those, the said folders have files like ".gitattributes", a few icons in ".bmp" and ".ico" formats wich I don't even know if they are necessary or what they're for, and a broken ".html"...Just that.
This is the reddit post and this is the github if wou guys wanna check.
Finally, one last semi-related question: once I've done the jailbreak, it's all good and running, all my books I get on PC and transfer to kindle via USB, is there any reason to stay online on my kindle? Do I miss on anything by keeping it on airplane mode "forever"?
Thak you all (in advance) for the help!
*Sorry for any mistakes, as you already know English is not my native language.
After jailbreak on kindle KT5 with sprigbreak that require registered kindle, i can remove the amazon account?
I’d been waiting a while to jailbreak it, but my Kindle updated by accident. I was so annoyed that I even removed the Wi-Fi networks, but I’m dying to finally jailbreak it.
If you hit trouble or get stuck or confused somewhere while jailbreaking or installing things, ask for help instead of abruptly pivoting to the nuclear option. Factory resetting a jailbroken kindle without restoring OTA binaries can get you in a weird state that requires additional recovery to be able to either install the hotfix or official firmware binaries.
Only factory reset if you know EXACTLY what you are doing and what will happen and why you are doing it. If you didn’t understand the last sentence of the first paragraph, do not factory reset unless someone who DOES has instructed you to. This is not some routine troubleshooting step. This should not be a primary go-to in your toolbox. Stop reaching for it every time you hit a bump. Please.
So I jailbroke my coloursoft when I got it as it wasn't on the latest firmware. Decided not to install koreader as I'd had problems with it in the past.
Then Amazon came out with dark mode, so I decided to turn updates back on, and updated to whatever firmware it was that introduced dark mode. (don't currently have my kindle to hand).
Obviously the jailbreak was patched and I can no longer open the KUAL book. Should there be a future jailbreak, can I simply use that? Should I reset my kindle?
I am about ready to just throw this damn thing in the trash. I'm hoping someone here can point out what I'm doing wrong before I give up completely.
Model: Kindle 11th Gen (KT5)
Serial number: G092AP
Firmware: 5.17.1.0.3

I tried to install a jailbreak on this exact device about a year ago and it didn't work. I decided to try again recently, but I'm still running into a wall. I made sure to do a full factory reset before installing the jailbreak, but no luck. I’ve attempted a clean install 3 times now.

Has anyone run into this specific combination of issues on the KT5 or this firmware version? Is there a step I'm missing??device about a year ago and it didn't work.
I just jailbreaked (is that the word?) my kindle and am trying to install KindleForge. When I try to open it I get this message ( in the photo)
Can someone help me actually open KindleForge?
Hi everyone, as the title suggests, im trying to find a way to remove ads after jailbreaking using Winterbreak (my Kindles firmware version is 5.16.2.1.1). From what I understand Kindleforge does not work on Winterbreak so are there any alternatives available? Thank you all so much!
I have an 8th generation kindle oasis, which is jailbroken with winterbreak, and it keeps going through multiple loading screens before eventually showing a screen which shows error code 2 and says to contact support. I have tried to just restart it (by holding the power button for 20 seconds). I also tried factory resetting it by holing the power button for 40 seconds and adding a file called "DO_FACTORY_RESTORE". It has also died to the point of the ! in the battery. When I contacted kindle support they offered 25$ and a 15% discount which does not compensate for the $400 spent on this device if I trade it in. Is there any way to fix this or is it completely gone?
I had the jailbreak for about 4 months before this happened
This was my first time jailbreaking a kindle from a Mac 🥀
Hi,
I was looking for quick setting for ko reader, found one by Qewer33. looked in the code and it looked simple enough to poke around and after 1 sleepless night and few more references form renandeivison here is the abomination that i came up with.
it is a completely customizable quick settings for Ko reader. here are the feature:
- Fully customizable top action buttons:
- reorder
- show/hide per button
- rows (1-3) and items per row (1-10)
- optional text labels
- icon shapes: none, circle, square, squircle, pebble, hexagon, pentagon, teardrop, flower
- Supports many actions out of the box:
- Wi-Fi, Night mode, Rotate, USB, Restart, Exit, Sleep
- Search, Cloud, Z-Library, Calibre, OPDS, NotionSync, Reading Streak
- plus icon-backed plugin actions (LocalSend, Puzzle, Crossword, stats, KOSync, BookFusion, etc.)
- Rich Frontlight + Warmth controls:
- tap/swipe sliders
- tri-state quick icons (off/mid/max)
- optional +/- controls
- Powerful Info Bar / Clock customization:
- enable/disable
- custom date/time format strings
- alignment, font family/style/size
- single/big/small text layouts
- stacked / two-column / three-column header layouts
- segment mapping (clock, primary, secondary, info, empty)

- Button settings
- Info bar/clock settings
I am still adding new features
If you want to please try this out the installation steps are simple. read the README

I ask because I got excited about the idea of downloading books and fonts on my phone, and just plugging in my Kindle PW to transfer them straight over. But that can’t be done with the MTP devices, because iOS doesn’t have the drivers to support the protocol. (It could in the future, but I’ll settle for shaking my fist in Apple’s general direction for now).
I’m on 5.19.4*, so can’t jailbreak right now anyways, but just wanted to ask if jailbreaking the other MTP devices has made them able to be accessed directly, so that moving files over from my phone might be possible in the future?
* Should have started my research on jailbreaking before I bought the thing, didn’t know not to connect it to my account haha. Oh well, I’m happy to be patient for now.
It’s been more than a year than I use my inkpalm with Aurora store
I’ve got the latest aurora Kindle app 8.51.1.0
Android version SDK 8.1.0
It is the first book I tried to open with this error
Has anyone seen this or know how to deal with it?
