Slaves to Darkness Spearhead feels too strong
Hi everyone,
a good friend and I got into Warhammer a few months ago. We started with Spearhead boxes and are now slowly expanding them into full armies.
I recently bought the Slaves to Darkness: Bloodwind Legion Spearhead, but honestly, I’m not sure I’m enjoying it.
So far I’ve played it against Nurgle, Skaven, and Sylvaneth, and I won all of those games without much trouble. I usually play Flesh-eater Courts, and with them I always feel like I have to think strategically, plan my moves carefully, and really work for the win.
With Slaves to Darkness, it felt completely different. I basically just charged in, hit extremely hard, and removed everything. The Chaos Knights in particular felt way too powerful compared to what the other Spearheads could deal with.
It honestly wasn’t very fun to win, because the army felt so much stronger than the others. It didn’t feel like a close or tactical game.
So my question is:
Does Slaves to Darkness feel different when played as a regular AoS army, or do they still feel this overwhelmingly strong?
I’m not sure whether I want to keep the Spearhead, because right now it doesn’t really give me the kind of tactical, balanced games I enjoy.
BTW: my friend and I are fairly evenly matched as players. I’ve lost plenty of games against him with other armies, so I really don’t think it’s just because of his playstyle. 😄
Would love to hear your experiences, especially from people who have played both Spearhead and full-size AoS with Slaves to Darkness.
Edit: I only set up the Knights in the second round.
