Just finished Book of the Dead. Need recs for similar dark hardship stories!
Hey guys, this is my current tier list. I just finished Book of the Dead and I really, really loved it. I haven't read Book 5 yet, as I’m waiting for the audiobook dropping on August 19th.
That’s why I’m looking for some recommendations. I started Azarinth Healer in the meantime, but I dropped it after a couple of chapters (though I do intend to get back to it). I like the pace and all, but it’s a bit too action-heavy for me right now and lacks the depth and deep hardship I'm looking for.
I’m looking for something that vibes with Book of the Dead, 1% Lifesteal and the The Immortal Great Souls series (Bastion...). I prefer stories with more hardship, misery, and a protagonist pushed to the ultimate edge who somehow overcomes it against all odds. I find it really compelling when the MC is treated badly by the world and tries to overcome this suffering.
Thanks for your recs!
Does anyone know when the audiobook will be released? (Book 5)
Just finished 1% Lifesteal B4. Need next series recs!
Hey guys! Just finished book 4 of 1% Lifesteal. It was a wild ride, but I absolutely loved it. Since book 5 won't drop until October, I need a new series to dive into.
Here is my current Progression Fantasy / LitRPG tier list. Based on my tastes, what would you recommend?
PS: I’d especially love recommendations with a solid audiobook! I walk a lot and always listen on the go. For reference, I absolutely loved the audiobooks for DCC (Dungeon Crawler Carl) and 1% Lifesteal.
Thoughts on the Book 6 Audiobook?
I read books 1–5 on Kindle and really enjoyed the series, so I was eager to get my hands on Book 6 of All the Skills. This time I decided to go with the Audible version, but honestly, I’m finding the audiobook really disappointing.
I don’t like the character voices at all—they sound artificial and just feel off to me.
Maybe I’ve been spoiled by audiobooks like Dungeon Crawler Carl and 1% Lifesteal, both of which have phenomenal narration, but compared to those, this audiobook feels pretty poor.
What are your thoughts on the narration? Were audiobooks 1–5 similar to Book 6 in terms of the voices, production quality, and overall sound, or is Book 6 different?
