I finally decided to update to the latest firmware...

Along with my request for the firmware update I asked if it were possible to remove or replace "Carlink 2.0" as it had been acting up a smidge. If it couldn't be replaced, I wanted it removed as I prefer my offline FLAC files most of the time anyways.

They completely skipped over my questions every time I asked about carlink. I asked why it was the default app and why it was locked, as there must be a reason. The third time I asked I was extremely blunt so they couldn't skip over the question. They left me on read.

I find that pretty sketchy coming from a Chinese company, I am rooting the headunit so I can remove it unless someone else has a different way?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE android headunits and love the hardware that comes with the Idoing. The unexplained use of carlink 2.0, lack of dual picture-in-picture screens and weird ass communications with the company is enough for me to chance bricking my system, fuck it.

Hey 👋 Just thought I'd share my solution for Idoings lack of knobs/buttons.

Any programmable macropad will do, just search Amazon for something like "3 key macropad with knob". Really, you could get more buttons and program it to do whatever you want.

This macropad is pretty sweet, comes in different colours and the screen is programmable as well. Has Nyan cat screensaver and then Bongo cat when buttons are pressed, he even hits the corresponding button and keeps track in a counter.
