Thoughts on Perriwinkle and Weaver's relationship? Also, what does YA mean?

I just read someone in this sub saying that Peri and Weaver's relationship was toxic, abusive and a bad example for young girls. Although I kiiiiiinda agree, I think the main problem with them is that they lacked TIME rather than reasoning.
Tho the plot twist was predictable, I didn't expect it to happen THAT way. It was wild and I loved it but I hated how Perriwinkle forgave Weaver so easily. What he did was terrible, his grief didn't justify him lying to the person he said he cared about and putting a whole nation under despair.
Peri forgave him in a matter of minutes. She took the initiative to go find a solution after he messed up. She chose to risk her life in that mountain and he just followed her. She was the one who thought about using the spider web to solve things while he just stood there feeling hopeless and sorry. Poor little thing .
I agree with Peri forgiving him as he was acting out of grief, rejection and hopelessness, I would have done the same, but couldn't it happen after 2 or 3 weeks when he had proved his worth to her and fixed his mess ON HIS OWN??? They fell in love too quickly, not a whole week had passed and they were already mouth to mouth. He said horrible things to her and used her. In the last chapter she felt that anxiety again and I thought they would end up as friends but then he kissed her and she just forgave and forgot??? With a little more time between the events this could have made sense, but no.
What about you? How did you feel about this couple?
Also... I understood that this book was a YA but some say that it was targeted to teens. I'm new to the Young Adult genre and I'm confused: shouldn't it be targeted to ADULTS instead? Have I misunderstood something? That plot twist and problems were pretty mature but the problem solving was really childish. Idk if most YA are like this.
Also sorry if there are any grammar mistakes, I'm an Ñ speaker lol.
