A small group of us (5 ppl) are flying from South America to Canada on Dec 31/Jan 1. Our best flight option lands at JFK close to midnight on Dec 31 and then we would need to get to Newark airport for our next flight. We have a long layover (about 11.5 hours) so we were hoping to take a shuttle to Newark and sleep in a hotel. Is this a crazy plan given that it's New Years?

Online it says shuttles typically take about an hour, but I'm not familiar with New York and where the traffic would be bad on New Years night, so I don't know how much time we should actually plan for that ride. Would it be better to stay near JFK and take a shuttle or Uber the next morning?

Advice and suggestions for shuttle services/hotels are welcome!
