I have to do a pickup at JFK on Monday afternoon. Flight should be landing at 230p. It's international so there will be customs and whatnot. When we dropped off I took the train but it was a really long day. I'm tempted to save time by just driving the whole thing door to door (we're near Philly).
Is that a bad idea with the construction, and with the afternoon/evening traffic on the way out?
My wife and I have a 9am flight out of JFK on a tuesday morning this July. To save money we're thinking of parking our car at Fairfield Metro for the week and taking Metro north to GCT then the LIRR to Jamaica, then the Airtrain to the Delta terminal. We have TSA pre-check and the schedule says we'd get to Jamaica station at 6:34am. We're only checking one bag. If we make our train connections I'm guessing the Airtrain will get to the airport between 6:55 and 7:10am. Is this enough time to avoid missing a domestic flight in July?
Was using this thing for a month now. Was using a credit card. Checked my balance and the cap did not kick in. Racked up quite a bill, with very little help from Port Authority and MTA thus far - no form to fill out, no website to go to. Maybe a rare frequent AirTrain user can advise.
For now, anyone who trusts the fare cap - don’t. If you’re an employee, get the metrocard from Building 141. I am avoiding the thing for now in an attempt to save money now.
If anyone has experienced this or any suggestions, please share.
Both legs are AA flight booked on one reservation with bags checked through to BCN. From my research it appears there are divergent opinions on the domestic to international transfer. It’s fully understood that international to domestic would be impossible, but that’s not the scenario. Could use some advice from those with actual experience at JFK. Thanks!
Know it’s probably not always like this but damn, 1 train every 30 mins from Jamaica station - and connecting each terminal.
I’m flying from Athena Greece to JFK. My flight is scheduled to land at 11:25 AM, and I have a separate domestic flight at 1:00 PM on a different airline.
No checked bags.
I’ll have to clear immigration and TSA again.
Assuming the flight lands on time, do you think this connection is realistic?
Has anyone made a similar connection at JFK? Any tips to maximize my chances?
flying into jfk from london, landing at 11:40pm. first time in new york, staying in midtown. every option i look at seems bad at that hour. subway involves the airtrain connection and i'll have two bags after a transatlantic flight. taxis from the stand seem fine but people online say the queue can be long late at night. ubers at jfk apparently have their own pickup zone situation which is confusing. seriously considering just pre-booking a limo service so someone is actually waiting for me at arrivals with a sign, i know exactly what it costs, and i just get in the car and go to the hotel. is that the move or am i overthinking it. how do people who travel to nyc regularly actually handle the late jfk arrival situation?
need some advice here as a solo 20f traveller from canada. i’m also not a frequent flyer and still pretty new to airports/flying, so bear with me 😭 my most recent flight was to l.a. about a year ago and before that i hadn’t flown in like 10 years.
i have the opportunity to spend about a day in new york because of my flights. i’d land at jfk around 7am and my flight out to the main destination isn’t until 10am the next day (jetblue). since i’m already gonna be there anyways i figured… why not. yolo! realistically i don’t know when i’ll be in new york again so i thought i’d spend the day exploring manhattan on a budget. my problem is accommodation. every hotel i’ve looked at is over $100 usd for one night and i’m really trying to keep this stopover cheap since it’s not the main destination. my thought was to explore the city all day, head back to jfk in the evening, and just stay at the airport overnight until my flight the next morning.
i only have a carry-on and a backpack, no checked bags.
from what i’ve read, i probably won’t be able to get through security until jetblue opens or tsa opens, so i’d most likely be waiting in the public part of the terminal for a few hours before i can actually go through security.
my main questions are:
is this actually a reasonable plan or am i overlooking something?
as a solo 20f, would you feel safe spending the night in the public area of jfk?
around what time would jetblue/tsa actually let me through security for a 10am flight?
if you’ve done this before, what would you recommend?
i’m okay putting myself in slightly awkward or uncomfortable situations if it means getting a cool experience and i usually end up thinking it was worth it afterwards, but i also don’t want to be stupid or unsafe. i’d really appreciate any advice!
That is all…hopefully A/C fixed with the heat coming later this week.
Hi all!
I am flying out of JFK at around 6PM on a Sunday on a domestic JetBlue flight. I wanted to see how long I should set aside if I want to go to the C1 Lounge in T4, since I would need to get to and enter security at T5 again. I have TSA precheck!
Thanks!
If you’re flying out of jfk terminal 1 today, prepare for a very uncomfortable and hot terminal
Controversial Popular Opinion: don’t pay for the AirTrain. $8.75 one way for the worst service?! Just walk through.
A small group of us (5 ppl) are flying from South America to Canada on Dec 31/Jan 1. Our best flight option lands at JFK close to midnight on Dec 31 and then we would need to get to Newark airport for our next flight. We have a long layover (about 11.5 hours) so we were hoping to take a shuttle to Newark and sleep in a hotel. Is this a crazy plan given that it's New Years?
Online it says shuttles typically take about an hour, but I'm not familiar with New York and where the traffic would be bad on New Years night, so I don't know how much time we should actually plan for that ride. Would it be better to stay near JFK and take a shuttle or Uber the next morning?
Advice and suggestions for shuttle services/hotels are welcome!
Lost this camera in terminal 4 area Monday 6/23/2026 early morning around 3:30am-5:30 am. Made a lost and found report on the airport website. But if anyone finds it I'd appreciate it returned. I'm interested in the memory card, it has meaningful memories there. Has anyone had luck recovering something lost at the airport?
Heya about to get on a flight to JFK and was wondering if there MCP app was operating for international arrivals in t8?
Many thanks
We have 4h20min layover at JFK before our next domestic flight. We would have loved to visit Time square or central park during this stop in NY, but we know that won't be enough time. So how can we still make our layover at JFK fun for a family with 2 pre-teens kids?
