Thank the orange man for this insanity

JFK may be the most godawful airport in the United States right now, and if you’re flying JetBlue you better pray to something that you can get in the air from that airport. Today I was on a 12p flight from JFK to LAX and they had us on the runway only for the Air traffic controllers to say our route wasn’t available. So we went back to gate to refuel. That’s a two hour delay. They pushed us back out and then said we were gonna fly in thirty mins because the tarmac was backed up. Then they said 10-15. Then they said the air traffic controllers pulled our route again and they don’t know when we’ll get out. Meanwhile the plane is running only a single engine to preserve fuel and everyone is sweating in their seats. Completely unacceptable insanity from one of the biggest airports in the world.

They had us deplane and I bounced because I fortunately have family in NY. I knew that flight was done for because JetBlue runs a bullshit skeleton crew because of their financial mismanagement and clearly can’t adjust or replace crews when things go wrong. Just a fucking house of cards. I’ve been on two attempted flights in three days, including a debacle on Thursday night when JetBlue had to cancel perhaps 75% of their flights. Shit comms and misleading updates about delays proceeded that. Were there active thunder storms that Thursday? No. But did JetBlue crumble like a house of cards? Absolutely. It was the compounding issues of the Air Traffic Controllers being completely unable to run this airport in any timely way coupled with policies that mean that flight crews are timing out. Just manother reason why MAGA isn’t so fucking great. Idiots.

Because of JetBlue and the FAA and MAGA DOGE bullshit I’ve wound up spending at least $500 out of pocket on ride shares, missed two days of work, and been stranded for four days and spent hours in the hellhole that is JFK. And the most fucked up thing about JetBlue’s antisocial communications and customer relations is the totally manipulative bullshit they do with flight status. I’ve tracked the flight I left today all day and it’s now nearly midnight and they’ve pushed the flight 40 fucking times every 40 minutes by 40 minutes just drip drip drip and stringing people along when they probably knew hours ago this fucking plane was done for. Just absolutely bonkers and corrupt behavior.

I wound up calling mosaic and insisting they book me on a United flight out of Newark. I can’t get out til Monday and I’m probably done with JetBlue and JFK for the near term at least. And good riddance to them both.

Thinking of letting go

My sweet chihuahua terrier pup Jody has had a long 17 year old life but recently stopped eating (except some nibbles) and has been struggling to stay on her feet or walk much. But the comfort we seem to find in each other is immense. She has kidney disease, some cognitive dysfunction, and arthritis. I made an appointment for at home euthanasia on Saturday and while I’m not sharing pics of us together just know we are so close. She’s seen me through a move across the country, a divorce, and more. She’s been there for me in ways I can’t even do justice to. I think it may be time. If there are any ideas or messages of support please share them. I love her deeply and am scared.
