Funny Mod here,

First off, full disclosure, this was supposed to go out last week. But then I managed to get both a cold and food poisoning, and I'm kind of the designated announcement mod. So here it is.

What should've been first off, moderation. We've pretty much only seen Rule 5 violations. There's a few leftover argument violations, but it's pretty much all Rule 5. Also some of the modmail from that is surprisingly polite.

Next off. We want to hear your opinions on two ideas. First, the most extreme yet tepid Throwback Thursday ever. Basically the idea is we encourage posts from cave drawings up to the 80s. Basically letting historical ladies shine. We'd then highlight the best post of the day.

Additionally we'd like to see how you ladies feel about us mods putting in the highlights what we think is the best post of the week. We see all the posts. Yes, Jane, even your's. And we'd like the highlights to not just be the mod team using me as a sock puppet to talk to y'all (they hold me hostage, but it's ok I'm fine with it since they feed me).

Also flairs will be done tonight or tomorrow, sorry again, but I was too sick to make them.

Finally I was gonna do a best mod poll, just to annoy the other mods, but sadly there's more mods than I can do poll options I think. So sound off in the comments with even less context to make our notifications cry! The Funny Mod, the Anti Social Mod, the Attack Mod, SingularFirefly (no nickname chosen) the Shiny Mod, the Horny Mod, or the Pantless Mod. (We're all very weird as you can see).

First off, I'd like to welcome our new mods. Welcome to the "fun" zone. Nothing creepy you'll be subjected to here! 😉 But seriously thanks to those awesome ladies. If I didn't respond it's entirely because I lost your messages in the modmail. My bad.

Second off, in regards to the Blake Lively situation. What we've decided is we're allowing one post per user a day of a specific celebrity. After some consultation we suspect the algorithm is why those posts were so visible. Unless we set a very dangerous precedent this is roughly the most we can do, though we're open to suggestions.

Third off, moderation actions! The overwhelming majority of moderation has been banning Rule 2 violations. Thus far we've only had two (confirmed) bots we've had to nuke. Otherwise the remainder have been civility related.

Fourth off, the bigot rule. It will be formally posted soon but, based on the poll, here's the way it will go going forward. Open bigots will be outright banned. No exceptions. I'm really sorry if you're really into JKR. But when it comes to edge cases, given the amount who wanted us to ban those, we will deal with those on a case by case basis as a mod team.

Fifth off (I swear we're getting towards the end) flairs will be added tomorrow. I'm incredibly sick today, so I'm doing this post instead of flairs, but they are coming. And yes, the specific flair one of you requested will be there. I'll also add an editable flair so you ladies can go crazy.

Finally (yes I don't type endlessly and I blame the fever for my post length) I'd like to thank each and every one of you for your patience with us. We also all appreciate your support and the way you've responded. Y'all are awesome (also as the spokeswoman who doesn't post as policy can one of y'all post Rosa Luxembourg).

Hello Friends, Enemies, and Lichtensteiners,

Yes it's me again. I know you're sick of the funny mod. But I promise this is important. And if not you can feed me into the Guillotine.

First off, elephant in the room. There's been a lot of strife lately over the Blake posts. Trust us, we know (RIP my notifications). We aren't just sitting waving the ban hammer, we're trying to find a solution and honestly? We are struggling.

Please keep in mind we do this as a volunteer thing, and we're not professionals. A lot of us have experience but we also have jobs and lives. We're always going to make mistakes. Beyond the, for lack of a better term, spirit of the sub being collaborative that's part of why we always ask for input. We've got a few ideas but we're not entirely happy with any of them. We're going to try to push out something in the next few days for you ladies to give feedback, but if you have ideas, please let us know. Comment, message modmail, send me a carrier pigeon, fire a message attached to a railway gun at me. But we do have two things we're doing right now.

First off, as ***temporary measure*** when posts get a bunch of comments that violate rules we will be locking comments. We don't want to do it, since it violates the spirit of the sub, but we're stretched thin keeping this a WLW only space and also handling these posts. This is not a permanent policy, this is a band aid.

Second, we've had enough of an uptick in members, and moderation actions, that we're reopening applications. These actions, by the way, aren't just related to the Incidents. We've had an uptick in members trying to get in (and some absolute mad lad who tried to post David Corenswet here, shout out to that guy or gal). So we're looking for roughly three more mods willing to incur sanity damage for free. Message the modmail to apply.

I have (finally) cleared out the mod queue. Yay! I also now need to bleach my brain. Less yay. That being said, here's the way forward, for full transparency.

First off I'll try to make a post addressing the moderation situation at least once a week including trends for transparency. Since you lot have been abandoned for so long I feel like it's only fair the mod team be open and transparent going forward.

Second, mod team. I'll be accepting applications for the ~~NKVD~~ mod team. Given we're a small and not super active sub I'm looking for at most 3 people. Send a message to mod mail if you're interested and I'll see if you're a fit.

Third and final, I'll be going over the rules and flairs tonight or tomorrow. I'll see what needs tweaking, what needs changing, and what's fine. If you have flair or rule suggestions put them here or in mod mail. Any suggestions for improvements to the sub are welcome as well. After I've done emergency tweaks I'll try to put any policy changes up to the community to be as unobtrusive as possible.

So just a minor update, an apology, and some history.

I was rather randomly added as a mod several months back. Unfortunately I suffered a mixture of mental health issues and real world issues that prevented me from being able to do that. Now that I'm able I've found a backlog of about a year.

I'm going to clear that queue and try to keep up with the sub. Apologies.
