The most important skill for a happy life in my opinion is humility. No matter how much money you have in your bank account or how successful you are in your career, you still need loving people around you. And the best way to keep loving people around you is to always remain humble.
My biggest mistakes in life have come from either being too nice and wanting to help or sharing something positive about me (success, future plan) with others. 99% of people around you do not give a crap about your success and in fact will become envious because sharing your success triggers something in others that reminds them they are not doing as well. This is true for everyone around you: friends, family, parents... unless your success benefits them directly. Even then, they can still hate you because they aren't the main character.
The hardest thing in life is learning to keep your mouth shut and enjoying your successes on your own. Never share anything with anyone unless it is absolutely necessary. And if you have to, make sure you downplay the success.
This is why humility is so important. We are not nice. All of us are little monsters who find it hard to see others succeed because we're all struggling with something. So when someone loudly announces their success, for whatever reason it triggers in us jealousy, envy... you name it.
Someone could say: "well I'm not dimming my light to protect others feelings". Life is a choice. You can either stay humble and protect their feelings or you can choose to not care and as a result wake up the monster in them and there will be consequences. In the best case scenario, they'll distance themselves from you. In the worst case, they'll stay around, pretend to like you while hating you, discouraging you from your goals and sabotaging your plans. Your choice.
Dale Canergie wrote one of the best books ever when it comes to relationships: how to win friends. The most important rules are: to never talk about yourself, to never criticize others, and to always redirect the conversation onto the other person and speak of their success instead. When you start talking about yourself, yeah you just created problems for yourself. It's similar to walking around and showing your billion dollar bank account to someone who is starving.
Is anyone part of a study group where people study quietly on their own? I’d love to join one. Feel free to DM me.
And putting their money in a space related stock ? This dumbass isn't moving even when the market is making new all time highs. At the same time, I'm scared, the minute I sell it'll start going up.
