Sampler for DJ S

This doesn’t exactly fit the Production flair but it was the closest one I could find.

After a long digital foray, I am going back to playing my 90s hardcore and jungle records live at gigs. My ideal setup includes using a standalone sampler to trigger one shot sampler like dub sirens, vocal snippets, spinbacks etc.

Curious to hear if anyone is doing this and what you would recommend hardware wise. For context, I do not have experience with samplers so I think I would want something on the rudimentary side. Ideally with big squishy pads.

Right now I’m looking at the SP404 mkii but the buttons are tiny and I don’t love the idea of scrolling through scenes, though it seems like it might be the best option overall.

Any thoughts or ideas are greatly welcome, cheers!

EDIT: my phone did a weird AutoCorrect on the subject, it is supposed to say “DJ’s” not DJ S.

Mitzvah DJ's - Which Hora track(s) do you use?

For anyone who DJ's mitzvahs, the search for proper hora music is grim. I've used a lot of different ones over the years. None of the classic/traditional ones hit right and then you have the over the top EDM banger versions which might work in New Jersey but not anywhere else.

Two of my good homies here in the Bay Area who are touring DJ/artists as well as multi-instrumentalists (and DJ mitzvahs on the side) went into the studio to record a modern medley that solves this problem. It's well-mastered with proper kick drums and bassline so it can be easily mixed into modern dance tracks without sounding off (rather the fade in/out I normally have to do for the other versions).

They made three versions - the full track, one for melodic accompaniment and one that is just the backing track for musicians to play along to. It's now my go-to!

To my USian ravers - has anyone thrown a drum & bass party at a Dave & Buster’s? I’ve been to one where they had a DJ and ok sound. Seems like a missed opportunity!
