Chimney cap ideas

Chimney cap ideas

I just finished putting a 26 foot rigid liner down a flue going to my basement. I had to remove the top 5 flue tiles due to an offset about halfway down. With that done, I finally got it down. What a relief.

I have a space around the liner now, and I'm thinking about dropping some rockwool peices down until the space around the liner is filled up.

But to finish it, I'm stumped. I planned to set a short peice of 7x7 tile over the liner, and let it stub thru the concrete cap that I want to pour. But... it has to sit on something, as does the concrete cap.

I need some sort of structure to support all this business at the top. Any ideas??

The flue to the left was laid like crap back in the day. I removed the top couple of tiles. Plan to relay them. That flue is and will be unused. Just wanted to add that for reference.

I have a shower I've finished, the wall grout turned dark and hardened nicely within a day.

The floor however, is taking longer. Im getting close to day 3, the advertised "fully cured" date, and it's still a lighter gray on the floor than it is on the walls, and doesnt seem as hard. I can still make an indent with my fingernail in a couple of deeper fill areas, if I press hard enough.

Is it because the floor is acting differently for some reason? Is it due to porcelain on the floor vs the ceramic on the wall?

Hydroban and mortar bed underneath.

How long should I wait to use the shower? Am I going to be ok?

It's been a lot of work to get to this point so i'm a little nervous to say the least. Someone give me some good news please!

I turned bathroom exhaust fan on, to remove any potential humidity but otherwise the house is comfortable.

Just looking for input and experience with this product.
