I'm planning a trip to Ghana in October and I need some advice on Tamale. I've been to Ghana many times (my father is from Ghana) but this time I want to take my parents to north Ghana for the Safari (Mole). My parents are a bit anxious as they know south Ghana by hand but barely know anything about the north.

Initially we are only planning to go to mole but I was wondering if it is worth spending the extra day in Tamale? I hope to learn about some culture differences compared to the south but can't find much to do around the city and the day trips or city tour guides are truly insanely expansive. I've asked some of my Ghanian contacts but they often advice against north Ghana and there seems some prejudice. Does anyone have any insider advice what to do in Tamale and if it's worth the extra day instead of more time in south Ghana?
