Ek weet mens kan baie soortgelyke reekse op youtube kry (Moemin, Nils Holgerson ens.), maar dit wil vir my voorkom asof die Dawie reeks skaarser is as hoendertande.
Weet iemand dalk waar ek dit in die hande kan kry?

I've been getting more and more intrigued by pico balloons and the WSPR world. I really wanted to set up a station that I can use to decode the signals and push the spots to WSPRNET. My only gripe was that I'd need to leave my radio and laptop running and I really don't want to do that. Also....I am not in the position to buy new toys.....
I remembered that I had an RTL-SDR V3 somewhere in the shack as well as a Raspberry Pi 3........
A short search later I came across the rtlsdr-wsprd project on github (https://github.com/Guenael/rtlsdr-wsprd). Basically a daemon that is a "headless" version of wsjt-x. It receives wspr signals via the dongle, decodes them and sends the spots to wsprnet!
Perfect!
Some scripting later and I now have a system that monitors 40m/20m/10m wspr signals. At predetermined times a script alters the wspr.service file and adjusts the bands being monitored. So early morning its 40m/20m, then it switches to 20m/10m during the day, 20m/40m late afternoon till around 21:00, then 40m till the early morning.
It might not be the perfect way to monitor wspr propagation, but beggars can't be choosers! A possible next step might be adding one or two more dongles and running a wspr.service per dongle...
As antenna I am using my 40m horisontal delta loop as it has very good characteristics across the traditional bands and makes Rx more efficient.
So no more having to run my radio the whole time and I gave some older equipment a worth while job.

Except for the exam part, are there any other requirements to getting your license?
From a ZS perspective:
We don't have online exams. Clubs register as examination centers with the SARL and we have two examination sessions per year where you go to your chosen examination center and sit down to a paper exam which was sent from the Chief examiner.
But apart from that candidates are also required to pass a practical HF assessment. Candidates go an HF assessor accredited by the SARL, they are required to set up a transceiver, connect all the needed cables, find an open frequency on 40m and make at least 5 contacts using the club/assessor's callsign. These qsos need to be logged in the assessment sheet, then the candidate needs to disconnect everything again. During this process, candidates will be asked many questions by the assessors relating to antennas, tuners, radio functions, radio procedure etc. If you don't pass the assessment you are not allowed to write the theory exam.
Are there any other examination entities that require a practical element to their examinations?
08:30, Satuday morning. I had to be at one of the local high schools for something and decided to take a walk through the quad.
Now this is a very well known school in the area. Not underfunded, not rural, seemingly ok students, but i was shocked.
Suitcases, school books, pencil cases, technical drawing boards.....all left in passage ways, on patios, out in the open. On the second and third story passageways you can also see bags and cases left outside.
I did check physically: all the classes were dark, there were no events happening, no kids at school.
Personally, I find it disgusting. Not just because these kids would obviously not be doing any homework that might have been assigned over the weekend, but these suitcases, drawing boards and text books cost money!
The cady school case itself is R1700 on takealot now, and I wonder whether parents had to pay for the text books or did we as taxpayers pay for it.
When I was at school I would have had a very bad time if I arrived at home without my school books. I would have been made to go back to school to fetch my stuff! Can someone explain how you leave school without your school books?
It saddens me that these students seem to have no clue about the concepts of responsibility. Responsibility to take care of your belongings, responsibility to take care of your studies.
Is this a generation without any sense of responsibility?
Edit: I spoke with a lady on the school grounds after I posted my original post (we were both there as our kids use the school fascility for training on a Saturday morning). She told me that she has seen the same thing on numerous other occasions, so this is not an isolated event.

If you cannot track someone, contact someone and don't know where they are....surely they have disappeared and are missing? And in a case that involves taxi tycoons, going silent is ominous at the very least.

Looking at the track record of SOEs, is this really the answer to stabilising fuel issues in SA?
So, might have gotten into a situation here, maybe not....
I was under the impression that you could apply for the new ID Cards online, do the payments and then make a booking at one of the suitable bank branches in your area to get the biometrics done.
So I (customer of bank X) went through the process, paid, authorised the payments on bank X's website. In my area, only bank "Y" offers a DHA service and chose that branch. Now I seem to be unable to make a booking as my province does not even appear on the bookings dropdown list! (Note: after payment they don't allow changes to applications)
My questions are:
Did I make a mistake by choosing bank "Y" when i am with bank "X"? I was under the impression that you did not have to be bank "Y"'s spesific customer to use that service.
Am I being too impatient trying to make a booking right after submitting the application? The Progress status is "Branch Processing in Progress".....must I wait for that to change?
If I did make a big mistake in my choices of trying to use this new service, how to proceed? Do I just need to rock up at the DHA office explain my mistake and continue from there? What would I need to take with to help my case?
