Strategy for purchasing the X430/X450
I did a lot of research on robot mowers for a half acre lot with mature trees with large canopies, and ~20% of the area is a 30° slope. There are other slopping areas but also two very large flat areas (0° but not 100% smooth).
I like the X430 because it includes an RTK antenna as well as LiDAR for the large shaded areas of the yard. Being able to handle 40° slopes is also really important as it gives it lots of buffer ability to handle the 30° slopes I need it to cover. The X430 is rated for more than my half acre lot but if things go well, I can have it cross the street and also mow my main yard, which is even more difficult in terms of angles, structures, and less access to open sky.
Segway seems like they have better support than some of the other LiDAR models on the market. I looked into Husqvarna, but they're slow to adopt LiDAR.
BUT, there's the rear axle problem on the X series. Do we know if there are plans to fix that in newly shipped units? If I buy a unit, how can I guarantee I'm getting new stock and not existing stock released before the fix? It's the end of fall. I obviously don't need to buy it now. I'd rather have a reliable unit than a unit now or bought on a potential upcoming sale.
Does anyone have any thoughts? I'm in the US. So access to any newly released units is questionable under Trump's robot ban policies.
