Strange Interaction Outside Lumbers Jewellers
Tldr: Lumbers owner harassed me for sitting on a public seat.
I was in town eary for work yesterday and sitting on a random public seat on high street which just happened to be outside Lumbers. At some point seen a guy who appeared to be the owner walk over to open up say to 2 PSO's "can they be moved?" gesturing to 2 homeless people sitting outside the corner shops about 3 shops up , nowhere near his shop, in a tone that sounded lile he was asking for dirt scraped off hos shoe.
I stood up and kinda glanced up and half watched to see what the PSO's would as I was ondering what authority this indovidual had to demand people be moved from a public street. Thought I seen the owner come out and take a picture of me from the corner of my eye but thought as I was imaging things. I sat back down again to scroll reddit.
A couple minutes later the guy approached me and demanded to know if I was waiting for his shop as he needed to know for "security reasons". I asked him who he was as I was taken aback and wasnt sure what authority he had to make demands of me for sitting in a public seat. He just releated himself and I said I was just minding my own business and I didnt see why it was his concern. He stormed off and called me a twat.
Im a pretty anxious person and was a bit taken aback and a little angry at this honestly. I left a negative review outlining what happened. Now Im just wondering if I am overeacting? I was in town today to do shopping and probably walked by his shop a couple times and Im worried he will say sonething else. He clearly thought I was casing the place or something. I have to walk by there every day for work. I already feel like I cant sit on that seat before work anymore. Its a 2 minute walk from my job and I like to chill in town before work.
