Anywhere in Leicester that sells Indian and Pakistani newspapers ?

I was just wondering if anyone was aware of any corner shop; supermarket, or just general shop that sells The Times of India; The Hindustan Times; Rise, or any other South Asian English language newspaper in Leicester ?

This questions applies to any shop anywhere in Leicester.

Ideally the newspapers would be very recent prints but slightly out of date is better than nothing.

Happy to discuss this question further.

I’ve just had an email from M and S saying Fosse Park store is closed…

Anyone know why?

Update; 19 Aug. 2026: I’ve telephoned; the email was poorly written. Click and collect is paused, but the store itself IS open.

Commute from Leicester to Kettering

Hi everyone!

I’ll be working at Kettering General Hospital and will be commuting from Leicester. I don’t drive, so I’m looking for the most affordable way to get there using public transport.

At the moment, the EMR train is £17.60 for a a two way, which is quite expensive if I’m going to be doing
this commute regularly.

Does anyone who commutes between Leicester and Kettering know of any cheaper alternatives using public transport?

I’d really appreciate any tips on cheaper routes, tickets, railcards, or anything else that could bring the daily cost down!

Thanks! :)

What was the store in The Shires called that smelled of cinnamon?

Cinnamon and spice scents galore as soon as you walked in. They sold a lot of tribal style works of art and home decor too. Had a very cosy feel. I think it was just to the left of Rackhams, where JD sports is atm. This is before the they added the extention and changed to The Highcross, so YEARS back but it remains a fond memory.

... Or it was all a fever dream.

About half way there with the Leicester artwork now. Hopefully getting some of your suggestions in here. To the chap who asked me to put the ruddy blue tower in it took me 3 hours for something the size of a ruler.Cheers Paul.

Leicester Uni alumni connections?

Hi. I graduated from the University of Leicester almost 30 years ago and now live on the other side of the world. I get the alumni association emails and occasionally look at the association's FB page, but don't see much opportunity to reconnect beyond the annual get-together meal (which I cannot attend).

Am I, a stupid Gen Xer, just not looking correctly? I assume that's the case, but I thought I best check. Please let me know if you know any better

Lack of jobs for 16 year old

My son is currently looking for a job in Leicester - ideally to fit around college studies. At 16 he obviously doesn't have experience although can demonstrate commitment to sports and studies. He is certainly keen and will do a good job given the chance. There seems to be a real lack of jobs and all of the larger retail or hospitality places just point him to their website - it seems gone are the days when it was possible to just hit the streets on Saturday and ask! He got an 'interview' at a local restaurant but that turned out to be a non paid shift which has turned into two non paid shifts and they want him to do a third! Not entirely sure that is legal and certainly not a good way to earn some actual money. Anyone out there with a similar experience? Alternatively, if anyone knows of any roles or fancies giving him the chance he deserves I am all ears!

89% of fans are unhappy with the owner - but does that mean King Power should sell?

Fan Voice data found that 89% of supporters are unhappy with the owner.

But conversations across social media suggest the question of a sale is far more divisive.

Some fans believe change is now essential. Others argue that new ownership could make things worse, that sometimes you’re better off with the people you know. And for many, King Power’s role in delivering the greatest moment in the club’s history, winning the Premier League in 2016, still carries enormous weight.

So where do you stand?
