Stop forcing yourself to play games you aren't enjoying
Look, many of us know the feeling of staring at a massive backlog, completely burnt out on looter shooters or endless RPGs, and wondering why gaming doesn’t bring joy anymore. I see so many posts on reddit of broken hearted individuals asking, "What am I doing wrong?"
The answer? Nothing. You are doing nothing wrong
Interests naturally shift and hobbies can grow cold as we grow older. If gaming now feels like an obligation or a joyless grind, just stop playing. Put the controller down for a while. Reconnect with friends you haven't talked to, visit family, get outside to experience nature, read books, or exercise. Forcing it won't do you any favors, and life is far bigger than video games.
Most importantly, if you suddenly find that this apathy applies to everything you used to love, it might not be gaming burnout. It could be depression. Take it from someone who lived in denial a long, long time, if it feels like crippling depression, it probably is. Please don't face it on your own. Don't put it off, and get help
Gaming is an incredible, unique hobby that satisfies in ways no other medium can, but sometimes you just need to step away from the controller to get some perspective and remind yourself that life is more than escapism
