Heated Rivalry author donates $300K to 5 rural libraries facing closure

Sort of sad this is where we are, private donations being use to stave off the closure of a valuable public service, but holy crow what a beautiful thing to do.

Mods - why was my post about the mayors statement removed?

You can send me a DM or whatever, but there was nothing disrespectful going on in the post, there was one post in the comments that might have been in poor taste, but otherwise nothing in violation of community standards and it was a chance to honour the other person killed in the accident.

What rules did of the sub or Reddit did it break? Why would you remove it?

Statement by the Mayor on the death of Bhishma Rajyaguru

I was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of Bhishma Rajyaguru, who was killed this weekend in a collision just outside Regina.

My heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved him.

Bhishma’s parents, who are in India, are now facing the unimaginable task of bringing their son home so they can lay him to rest.

An appropriate statement by the mayor to recognize the other victim in the tragic incident that occurred near Lumsden.

What was your favourite Claude Lemieux moment?

For me, less a favourite moment and more a lasting feeling - Lemieux wasn’t the first Hab from the 89 team to depart, but it was the first trade that I remember not making sense. Somehow I knew Turgeon was not the piece the Habs needed. I feel like the Muller trade was a measure of justice, but trading Lemieux will always feel like a misstep.

What was your favourite moment of Lemieux in a Canadiens uniform?

Baseball (or sports) Book Club - Any Interest?

I’d love to start a low barrier, though super nerdy, baseball book club in Vancouver - essentially getting together over a beverage and talking about either a specific book we’ve all read or talking in general about baseball books we’ve read lately and recommending our favourites.

If you’ve ever wanted to talk about the merits of Buck Showalter, wax poetic about the Baseball Project, denounce errors made in Eight Men Out, or defend Ball Four against book challenges and bans, this might be the club for you.

Leave a message here or send a dm if this is the kind of thing you could see yourself signing yourself up for and maybe attending every once in a while.

Open to everyone and always looking for new books and topics - so please don’t feel like you have to be a baseball expert to join.
