Frontier Support Shenanigans
Wanted to post this here as another Frontier Support funny/hoor story, but also see if anyone has an answer while I wait for a callback.
TL;DR: Frontier tried to tell me there's no issue AND the modem I'm hardwired into is disabled completely.
I've been battling with Frontier over proper internet speeds for YEARS. After discovering my state, Indiana, filed a lawsuit against Frontier over the matter, I took all the proper steps through support, to have proof that I did so. Once I did this, I filed a complaint with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. Magically, although Frontier found no issues, my download speed (supposed to be 14mbps) went from 4mbps, to 23mbps. Sounds great, right? It would be, except as a result, my ping usually sits above 200ms, now. I can do less now, than I could, before.
I've filed another complaint, because Frontier says they can't do much about ping. "It's an issue on your end, not ours." One device on the internet (I even unplugged everything else just for the sake of the argument), hardwired into my Arris modem, and no programs running/downloading. I should mention, too, that we pay for the Eero router, as it gives us about a 2-3mbps boost.
So, I get a call from Frontier, as I pull into work. "Hi, I'm investigating your case. Are you available to troubleshoot?" I'm not, but she still has some questions I can answer, for now. She says that everything reads fine on her end. She asks me where I'm doing my tests at, and of course, is my connection hardwired. I ask, in return, if it's better to be hardwired into the Arris (how I have it setup), or the Eero. She then proceeds to tell me, that her end shows that we've disabled our Arris, and that everything is running straight through the Eero, including my hardwired connection.
I have been told in the past, that it's better to hardwire into the Arris, as it's one less destination, in the cycle. I've also been told that I cannot plug the phone line (DSL cable) into the Eero, and that it MUST be plugged into the Arris. So what gives?
I texted my wife, to verify our wiring setup, and it is how I stated above. DSL>Arris>Eero, PC>Arris. Now, I can, at least, understand if they don't see an issue. They usually don't. But how can you tell me that my system isn't wired up the way it actually is? And to say my modem is disabled, when it's what I run tests through, all the time? This seems to be a new level of a middle finger, to me.
