Where to Meet People?
Obligatory acknowledgement that this is probably asked once every two weeks.
I am a mid 20s guy. I grew up here, but I was never in the know or popular.
Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to try new things and would love to experiment, but I don’t know what people do here.
Basically, let me break it down into three questions:
- Where do people meet people nowadays that are actually open to talking? (Like, churches are so hit and miss, I’m going to discount them mostly)
- Where should people look to find local events and workshops? (No matter what, people miss the largest advertising here)
- Finally, where do people actually want to meet people for relationships? (In other words, if you are social and single, where would you think someone could meet you?)
I’m not asking to solve all the issues or even for each of these questions to be answered, but I want to see if people can work on this together.

For starters, thank you for the answers. I need to go over them. I am not on Facebook, but I figured that would be the place to get connected.
I also got DMs from a couple people just looking for friends. If you are in a similar boat and need to find someone trying to form a community, feel free to reach out to me as well.
Finally, does Joplin have a discord or similar thing. Basically a community app that could be used to encourage shy and introverted people to socialize?
I just figure if people are looking for community, let’s find a tool to welcome them.
