[FIX] Google Fiber: some websites won't load on my phones (Reddit, etc.) but Google search works. DNS fix (iPhone + Android)

Just switched to Google Fiber and suddenly certain websites wouldn’t load on my phones (Reddit and others. Pretty much anything that wasn’t the main google search page). The sites were working fine when I had AT&T but I switched from AT&T due to the internet constantly having outages for 12+ hours. Had google fiber technicians come out but they didn’t fix it (they searched on Gemini and Gemini said it was an iPhone issue) so they said it wasn’t a google problem and left.

So I found solution and this worked for me so hoping others who have this issue can use this to help as well. It is a google fiber issue, just probably not one a field tech is supposed to resolve. I think it’s a network issue. Their DNS resolver is failing to resolve certain domains.

The fix: override your phone's DNS with a public one (Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 or Google 8.8.8.8). I just used 1.1.1.1 and it worked for me.

iPhone: Settings -> Wi-Fi -> tap the ⓘ next to your network -> Configure DNS -> Manual -> delete what's there -> Add Server -> enter 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 (or both) -> Save.

Android (Samsung): Settings -> Connections -> More connection settings -> Private DNS -> "Private DNS provider hostname" -> enter one.one.one.one -> Save.

Android (Moto): Settings -> Network & internet -> Private DNS -> enter one.one.one.one

Wait up to 30 minutes. Should work after this.

Legal name vs preferred name on NDA

Hi! Location: NY but parties located everywhere

Printing your name on an NDA (or any contracts, etc) is it okay to use preferred name if purpose isn't to defraud? Say name is Jane Doe and I want to sign as Sage Willow. If I go by Sage Willow by everyone in my everyday life and have for years and everyone knows me by that name, can I use that name? I understand I can sign it as whatever I want, this is about the printed name.

Please only answers from an actual lawyer/someone actually knowledgeable about this subject only.

Hi! The state doesn't matter as the parties involved are in multiple places. I just put NY.

How much did SOC 2 cost your startup (audit + tooling)? I will not promote

Hi!

Looking to know what others have paid for SOC 2 audits. Wanted to know if it changes based on size of startup, etc.

I have been looking into getting a soc 2 audit done. My startup is in running for a multi-million dollar contract and I believe I will be asked for the report (or at least something showing I can attain it) soon. I have done all of the policies and research gathering myself, but I’m getting prices that range from slightly under $10k (even more of a discount if I had the automation software like Vanta, etc) to very high (all 100% US firms to avoid a Delve situation).

Wanted to know what’s a reasonable price for a 2 person startup. I started the evidence gathering and policy writing process by myself on day 1, so I have significant amounts of screenshots, policy files/documents, etc. I also built my own GRC platform for my company’s purpose to keep everything together/automate stuff.

I have been told with the information I have, my report can probably be completed within 4 weeks at the soonest.

Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences!
