I'm starting an au, but I'm really having fun in the concept phases, so it isn't anywhere near done.

The first two characters were of course the main characters, Metatale Chara and S!Outerswap Chara.

The au actually entirely takes place in Metatale, which is set in a place beyond the underground called the Abyss, where recollections of everyone in the underground live as themselves so long as something in the world represents them (Deltarune relatable). Even characters such as Chujinn (UT Yellow), and Gaster live normally there. I wanted to make MT!Chara like a mix of a trendy person and an edgy girl, so I started with a cropped offshoulder sweater and flared shorts, which seems like a pretty preppy style. Then I overcast it with a trench coat. In addition, she only wears black and red. I gave her mostly a kuudere personality, because generally, kuudere Chara is really cute.

Now! S!OuterSwap Chara! Ideally I just needed another version of Chara that would be the exact opposite, but I wanted to use my own ideas. So I came up with S!OuterSwap. Of course actually coming up with the actual detail of what characters were switched didn't cross me. But the gist is, this Chara is basically like Storyswap but comes from a version of Outertale. She's more cheery and confident, but wears mostly plain clothing, a white tank and black leggins, but also wears a blue and yellow jacket, but carries it like a cape when in-battle. >! (In the manner Flowery does in-battle) !< <- [deltarune spoiler] S!OS! Chara is the lead protagonist, who lost Asriel after he discovered a basement in their home that never existed and was taken to the Abyss, who Chara followed in order to find and return home. (SOS Chara, who knew?) She found MT!Chara and asked for help, to which she reluctantly agreed, only because she can relate to having Asriel as a brother. S!OS! Chara though, is very spacey and has half an attention span, and is also very careless, which causes MT lots of trouble.

This is probably all I'll come up with, but I am currently working on how the Abyssal Ruin scene at the beginning.
