GHOST.?

Obviously it's a 1909 missing the vdb, my thoughts and my research bring me to decide. Maybe it is one of the Ghost coins they talk about from 1909 because of the rejection from the public not liking the vdb on the coin. Experts say some were struck without the Vdb

Or a Variety 1A Hub" Did not see enough for DDO Reverse?

My heart almost jumped out of my chest, when I pulled this penny out of the bag lot that I bought.

I'm sure the most of you get it. It turns out it's a 1940

Penny history.

During world war II, copper was hard to come by after they needed so much to make casings for bullets and large ammo. So The mint switch to zinc coated seal pennies. Then the public outcry of the precious Penny turning to rust, The very next year in 1944 the mint switched back, to the classic, reddish brown copper penny. Without taking raw materials away from our troops, the government, gathered spent copper brass shell casings, from the military training facilities. And used that material from 1944 through 1947. Which gave us pure copper pennies. Then in 1947 the Mint carried on with making our pennies.

A little history of our steel penny, I thought I would share for the novice. Penny gatherer.

I've been hearing some chatter about these little gems. I don't think mine were out of a cereal box but anything's possible.
