Germinating and recording content when suddenly I notice one of my seedlings is a tricotyly!! O_O

Meaning it popped out with THREE cotyledons instead of the normal two!!!

hey guys, so I spoke with Ben today and was able to catch him up on everything, including the posts about me lol. I’m honest about everything and don’t really have anything to hide, so let’s just get through this.

Ben gave me permission to update everyone on what’s going on because he doesn’t want to make a big public statement himself yet. He’s just trying to get back to normal.

Ben has Crohn’s disease and it can flare up pretty badly and unpredictably. This last episode was rough enough that he had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance a couple of times. He also has an intestinal blockage that still needs to be dealt with surgically, and right now he’s waiting on the doctor to figure out the next step.

The good news is he’s doing better at the moment because the medication he was prescribed is helping. I know more of the specifics, but honestly I feel weird just blurting out every detail of the dude’s medical history hahaha.

As far as orders go, around 90% are done and he dropped off a couple more today. So yes, things are moving.

He will eventually update everyone himself, either on Reddit or YouTube, but for a while he was in a really bad place mentally and physically. He wasn’t really in a position to make decisions, keep up with everything, or run around trying to explain himself. He was basically just trying to get through it.

I know it probably sucks hearing all of this from me instead of directly from Ben, but this is what I was able to get for everyone for now. I’m just trying to clear up the confusion until he’s ready to speak for himself.

Also, about the posts going around about me O_O it’s no secret that if Ben, Speedrun, or literally anyone does something I don’t agree with, I’m vocal about it. I don’t stay quiet just because I know someone.

I was pissed about this whole situation before too. Me and Ben have disagreed about things in the past and I’ve said that publicly.

The difference is that I eventually talked to him, learned more about what was actually happening in his life, and understood the situation better. I talked to him about all of this again today and me and him are good. There’s no secret beef or anything weird going on.

I deal with some health stuff myself, so once I understood what he was going through, I could sympathize with him a lot more.

Also just to clarify my role here I help Ben with Discord stuff, but I’m not really “in charge” of anything. I helped build his original Discord server and replacement server, set up the roles, and got everything working. Once Ben is ready to come in and take over, I’ll transfer ownership to him if that's what he wants.

A lot of people on Reddit have been twisting words around and turning everything into drama, and I really don’t appreciate that. Complaints are one thing. If you paid for something and you’re frustrated, I understand that completely.

But endlessly stirring shit up, twisting people’s words, or trolling just for drama is something else entirely.

Hopefully this clears up what’s actually going on, and hopefully nobody gets mad at me for speaking on it. I’m just trying to help until Ben is ready to do it himself.

btw as i was writing this the new discord server got flagged again and taken down ill try to appeal it but this keeps happening over and over along with all the posts here it makes it all look bad kinda disapointed in alot of you, honestly oh well...

If you grow autos and you're getting no terps or resin, then maybe you don't know how to manage your environment well enough to preserve volatile terpenes 🤷

I'm okay admitting there are growers WAY better than me. Look at Autopotamus 😂 Dude gets autos to express some absolutely ridiculous traits.

But that's kinda my point... if you suck at growing autos, you're never going to see what those genetics are actually capable of.

You can't grow an auto like shit and then blame the auto for being shit O_O

Really cool run. 😎 Learned a lot, and I can't wait to reset and do it all over again.

I'm gonna change a few things this next run: an earlier Cal-Mag boost during veg, go back to 20% runoff, add a little more nitrogen heading into bloom, and tweak a few other things.

I went back through my old notes and realized I completely forgot I used to run SLF-100. I stopped using it because I ran out during COVID and it got stupid expensive. 😭

I'm also gonna test some more CX Horticulture additives and see what kind of difference they make.

That's the fun part about growing. Every run teaches you something, and the next one should always be better. O_O

I don't like my flushes, man. 😂 I think I need to move from a 2 week flush to just 1 week of Cake, since it only contains potassium and nothing else.

Some people flush with just water and get absolutely beautiful fade colors... not me. 😂 Mine look like a murder scene. 🤣

I'll tweak it next run. I already have a ton of changes lined up for the next flowering cycle. Gonna go back through all my numbers, compare them with the new data, and make some adjustments.

I'll weigh her at the end and, like always, show you guys the total harvest yield. O_O

I usually talk about stuff but reddit is flagging my posts 🤷

I cannot have more than 2 plants per tent O_O

Even then I start running into humidity issues and light stress because one plant always decides it's trying to touch the moon while the other one behaves

So I said screw it and moved Dream Portal into her own tent. Now Slime Machine and Painted Lady have the 5x5 to themselves.

I did that last night and woke up to Slime Machine already getting taller

DLI was pushing 46, so I raised the lights all the way up.

Honestly, most of my problems lately have been environmental and not feeding related, which is a nice change of pace. It does make me wonder though...

Should I even be running that many plants?

I feel like I could grow absolute monsters, fill the space better, and probably end up with higher quality flower than trying to pack the tent like a can of sardines

Less plants.

Bigger plants.

Better airflow.

Less humidity.

Fewer headaches.

I don't know O_O

Looking good! Well... better than I expected 🤣

The CalMag adjustment was definitely important. Since I'm running RO water, I need more calcium than someone using tap water. Most tap water already contains a decent amount, but mine starts at basically zero.

Now that I've got the calcium where I want it, I can already see the growth rate picking up.

The downside is they got way taller than I expected 😭

I checked the DLI and somehow it had climbed to 48, so I turned the wattage down and added 4 hours of darkness. That should help push them further into flower and reduce any potential light stress.

Humidity is another thing I'm watching closely.

I was reading around 73% RH, which is way higher than I like seeing at this stage. I did a little defoliation to improve airflow and see if that helps bring it down.

Honestly, the humidity is what's worrying me the most O_O

I live in a pretty dry environment, so having humidity issues is rare for me.

The only other thing I can think of is moving the third plant into my other tent to reduce the amount of plant material packed into this one.

I finally got my new coco mix too, which means I can start Tent B and get back to making content.

​

Part of the reason I've been quiet is because I wanted to see how this flowering transition went with the numbers I've been testing.

​

So far I've changed three major things, and all three seem to be moving in the right direction :D (btw those changes were adding regen a root, head masta from Cx, moving calmag up, and changing my Ph to 5.5 i used to move it to 6.0 and nope O_O)

The wire training has also been awesome.

It's probably been one of the biggest contributors to getting a nice, wide canopy.

Using CropSalt Bloom with some TPS Cal Mag, CX Regen A Root, and CX Head Masta O_O Since I'm adding new things, I'm watching closely to see how the plants react and making adjustments as I go.

One thing I changed was increasing the TPS Cal Mag to 3ml/gal. My calcium was coming in on the low end, and I originally didn't want to raise it because it would push my EC up to around 1.5. But I started noticing some very minor deficiency signs, so today I went ahead and bumped it up. Now we watch and see what happens O_O

The Bro Mendel plant in the back is absolutely flying through the feedThat thing is moving so fast I'm probably going to have to add a valve and be ready to shut it off separately because it's almost a week ahead of schedule.

The Speedrun Seeds plants are taking longer, but they're significantly bigger.

That's kind of the tradeoff with super fast genetics O_O They finish quickly, but they don't always give you the amount of veg time needed to become absolute monsters.

Anyways, I'm still watching everything closely. If the plants don't like the ratio, I'll probably start seeing salt buildup or other issues within a few days.

If they do like it, they should start greening up, growing faster, and making good use of the extra calcium.

Some of you may remember that I used to have a few calculators O_O

Well... they've evolved 😭🤣

Over the last year I've been slowly turning them into what I'm calling the Grow Engine.

My dream is to eventually have it become an AI grow assistant that can help people with everything from feeding and environment to drying and curing.

I'm nowhere near that yet 😂

But what I do have is years of notes from my grows, my feeding regimens, environmental targets, drying methods, curing notes, flushing experiments, and all the weird stuff I've tested along the way.

So I built a tool that I wanted to use myself.

Then I kept improving it.

And improving it.

And improving it 😭

Now you can input your own data and track your plants much more accurately than before.

The daily targets are the minimum benchmarks I try to hit during a run.

The Lab section is where I took a lot of inspiration from Hydro Buddy. I wanted a way for growers to build their own nutrient regimens by using lab analysis data and PPM calculations to map out an entire grow from start to finish.

The whole system is designed around one idea:

If you have a great run, you should be able to replicate it.

You can save everything locally or create an account on my website and save it across devices.

And yes...

Everything is completely free.

I don't charge for any of it 🤷

I've also built out a MasterBlend formula that has worked surprisingly well, and I have friends who have run my CropSalt schedule with great results.

If you're following my Season 3 coco run, I do recommend TPS Cal-Mag. In my experience it complements the base nutrients really well and helps round things out.

A lot of the tracking ideas were inspired by Ben's pheno hunting guide too. Weekly data gives you a much clearer picture of what your plant is actually doing instead of guessing.

There's a lot more hidden in there, and I'm still updating it whenever I come up with something new.

I haven't shared it in a while, so I figured I'd remind everyone it exists O_O

I’ve stayed quiet for a while, but I’m tired of watching the same complaints get recycled in here like Speedrun is some big corporation failing its customers. It’s not. It’s a small team putting out strong genetics that sell out fast for a reason.

If the shipping speed and communication style genuinely bother you, then buy from someone else. There are plenty of other breeders who run things differently. Constantly posting about how “unacceptable” it is doesn’t fix anything O_O it just brings more negativity into the sub and makes it harder for people who actually want these genetics to get drops before they sell out. Some drops don't last more than 30 minutes...

I’m not some blind shill either. A lot of people here know I had a huge falling out with Ben in the past. We had real issues. I didn’t just get over it and start dickriding. I actually sat down and talked to him, sorted it out, and chose to still support him because I respect how he operates once I understood the reality of a small team. So when I say the current system makes sense for what he’s doing, it’s not coming from someone who’s never had problems with him.

I also have affiliate codes with a lot of different breeders and companies. The idea that I’m only here pushing Speedrun because of some coupon code is ridiculous. I genuinely like what they put out. I still grow plenty of other breeders too O_o even smaller, lesser known ones. That’s just what I do. When Speedrun has issues or drops are slow, I simply run other genetics instead of coming on Reddit to complain about it. I handle my grows. I don’t expect a small team to operate like a big corporation just to make my life easier.

On top of that, it’s pretty obvious that some of the negativity in here comes from people connected to other breeders who pop in just to shit on Speedrun and push their own stuff. That’s lame. If your goal is to make people stop buying here so your drops move better, just say that instead of pretending you’re doing it for “the community.”

Without naming names, you know who you are. The second anyone mentions certain breeders, some of you run to copy and paste it in your Discords like it’s your job.

At the end of the day, Speedrun is what it is O_o a small boutique operation with strong genetics. Some people are fine with that. Some aren’t. If you’re in the second group, go support whoever fits what you want. Simple.

It would actually make things easier for the rest of us who are cool with how they operate. I’d rather just buy the genetics I want without having to fight through constant negativity every time a drop happens. I genuinely don’t care about being liked or followed in here. In fact, now that I see how this subreddit actually works, I might start posting more just because.

This is honestly my favorite way to train plants because I can rotate the pot and reach areas that would normally be a pain to work on.

I plan on showing all of that later, but first I want to work on my technique and stuff...

The DLI is slowly climbing on its own because the plants keep getting taller, so that's something I'm keeping an eye on. I might raise the light tomorrow because I know these things are about to take off.

Getting the pH down to 5.5 was definitely the move for the Mother Earth coco. The runoff is finally starting to come down and is sitting around 6.3 now instead of constantly drifting higher.

I still haven't turned the AutoPots on, and that's intentional 😅

The runoff readings gave me an idea for a strategy I want to test later.

My plan is to shut off any plant that hasn't entered bloom yet using the valves. That way only the flowering plants are getting the bloom mix through the AutoPots and can eat and bulk up all they want.

Then once they're finished, I'll shut them off and go back to feeding with the watering wand.

Still planning, and testing.

And overcomplicating everything 🤣

Okay, I've been testing out the new ratio for my CropSalt regimen O_O

per gallon during the transition phase.

This was actually the part I was most worried about, but honestly it looks pretty solid so far!

I'm also running 2ml of TPS Cal-Mag and using training wire to shape the plants and keep everything nice and even.

I haven't been posting as much content lately because I've been buried in the website, the shop, and all the stuff that comes with building that out. I also wanted to confirm my EC/PPM levels and see how these girls transition into flower before I started talking about it.

I'm still not running the AutoPots yet 😅

I'm saving that for later because I have a whole system I'm testing right now, and so far it's working exactly how I hoped.

Lots of experimenting. Lots of note taking. Lots of overthinking 🤣

But I'm having fun with it.

Keeping these plants in my 5x5 while I reset Tent B and run 2 new strains with a new coco brand and some other additions. I'll share everything once it gets here! O_O

My feeding strategy is honestly getting wild 🤣

Since these plants aren't showing early flowering yet, I haven't started them on the bloom mix. I'm still running 18ml of CropSalt Part A and B Veg with 1ml of TPS Cal-Mag.

This is actually where I would have messed up before.

If I blindly followed the "recipe", I'd be feeding bloom nutrients to plants that aren't even asking for them yet 😭

That's one thing I've been learning 🤷 autos don't all read the calendar. Some are still very much in veg while others are already trying to speedrun life.

I'm probably going to have to modify my calculator too. It needs a toggle for autos that are technically old enough for bloom feed but are still behaving like veg plants.

Once they start flowering, I plan on moving to a 50/50 Veg and Bloom mix. That lowers nitrogen while increasing phosphorus and potassium.

I was checking the numbers though and noticed the phosphorus wasn't quite where I wanted it, so now I'm trying to figure out how to increase that input without throwing everything else out of balance 😂🤷

Another thing I've been noticing is that feeding around pH 5.5 has given me much better results than when I used to drift upward toward 6.2.

The Mother Earth coco I'm using naturally sits around 6.8 pH, which explains a lot of the upward drift issues I kept running into.

So instead of feeding higher and letting the root zone climb out of range, I'm keeping the input lower so the medium has room to drift upward without causing problems.

That is another area I think I messed up before O_O

I wasn't just dealing with nutrient ratios. I was also fighting the behavior of the medium itself.

The more I test things, the more I realize growing isn't about following a chart. It's about understanding why the chart exists in the first place.

Lots of learning. Lots of testing. Lots of confirming that I am still a noob grower 😅😭

Today I added TPS Cal-Mag, adjusted the lights, and the total EC is now at 1.2. VPD is staying the same. Also, look at Mini Nova and Bob! You’ll see them from time to time so they can help show how tall the plants are getting :D

Top watering before the Autopots actually get turned on is the absolute worst, and my lower back is screaming at day 16 of this run. I found this $22 cheat code for the grow tent so you don't have to carry heavy water tanks around anymore. Just drop the 16 foot hose in a bucket and go ham.
