Roots Reaching Valves

Roots Reaching Valves

Saw this today and made me question if I did install the copper base sock properly or not. Is it normal for the roots to pierce the fabric pot and then the copper sock too? How powerful are these plants? Should I trim it before it affects the valve?

Choosing Nutrient Line For Autopots

Hi everyone! I just received an 8‑pot 3.9 Autopot setup that I’ll be trying for the first time. Does anyone have experience running Jack’s, CANNA Coco, or Athena Blended nutrient lines in Autopots? I’m trying to decide which direction to go. I’ll be using a 60/40 coco–perlite mix.

I see that Jack’s has a feed chart specifically for Autopots, which is helpful. I couldn’t find an Autopot‑specific feed chart for Athena or CANNA Coco. My understanding is that I would just need to dial down the EC to something like the ranges below. Athena told me I could follow their standard chart, but everything I’ve read suggests their recommended EC would be too strong and could burn plants in Autopots.

Vegetative phase
Autopot EC: 1.2–1.4

Early flower
Autopot EC: 1.4–1.6

Mid–late flower (W6–W9)
Autopot EC: 1.6–1.8

Also, my understanding is that I should set my reservoir pH about 0.2–0.3 lower than the pH I want in the pots.

If anyone has suggestions or if I’m mistaken about anything above, please point me in the right direction!

Outdoor AutoPots: SoFem Big Shoots & Atlas Fog Hound

Hey everyone, quick mid-flower update on my off-grid AutoPot run at my weekend cabin in Germany. Trying to get these autos through the unpredictable summer weather completely unattended Mon–Fri. Photos are sporadic since I don't use a smartphone camera and only shoot when I haul my SLR out there.

Plant Status & Canopy

  • Stretch is officially done and bulking is kicking in.
  • No topping used—just LST and leaf tucking. Each plant pushed a single prominent main cola sticking out up top, while the rest of the canopy underneath stayed super even.
  • Despite the usual rainy German weather, the airy structure and bottom-watering are keeping them completely mold-free.

Setup & Outdoor Tweaks

  • Veg Start: Pre-vegged at home under a SANlight EVO 3-100 in 1L Air-Pots (70/30 Coco/Perlite). Plain water for 2 weeks, then root complex + Greenhouse Feeding Grow All in one top-dress.
  • 35L XL Trays: Ordered by accident, but turned out ideal. Pulling the side silicone plug creates an automatic overflow so heavy rain drains out instead of drowning the roots.
  • Heat & Protection: Black fabric pots wrapped in white root fleece against the sun. Elevated off the ground, with a shaded GreenBarrel reservoir feeding through a B/W hose to block algae.
  • Drainage: Clay pebbles top and bottom (no Airdomes).

Nutrients & Genetics

  • Feed: Reservoir is running Greenhouse Feeding Hybrids All-In-One (EC 1.5, pH 6.0). Just added Plagron PK 13-14 yesterday for the bulk.
  • 1x Big Shoots (SoFem Genetics): Absolute powerhouse. Massive vigor, heavy branching, and lives up to the name in every way.
  • 2x Fog Hound (Atlas Seeds): Freebies from Multiverse Beans. Slightly more compact frame, but super sturdy and stacking resin fast. Smells are loud across the board.

Really curious to see how they finish bulking up over the coming weeks. Let me know what you think, and I'm happy to answer any questions if you're thinking of running something similar. Will keep u posted!

Day 49 - Auto with Ph Perfect

Setup :

1m square tent
4 plants
Light : Mars Hydro FC3000 at 30cm of the highest plant and 45-50 for the others, at 100% for 18/6 since week 3
8 liters plastic pot
Regular duo Autopot system
No training besides some leaf tucking sometimes
No real control of temperature and humidity, very hot here, like 30 deg in the tent, and between 35-55 RH.
RO system + 0.4 EC terra aquatica calmag + Ph Perfect A and B Grow at 6ml/L for a total of 2.0 EC since day 23, before 1.8 since day 14, before 1.6 since 3 and 1.1 at day 1.
Air pump installed.
50/50 Coco/Perlite
Grow Genious Silica
Started hand feeding with trichorderma for 2 weeks, then started the autopots and stopped trichoderma.
Used voodoo juice root product to weed for 3 weeks even in the reservoir before realising it was not mineral. Stopped after.
Have been in hollyday for two weeks and the stretch went crazy, it started to touch the lamp so there are some temperature / light dammage.

Ph help please

So everything with my grow was going great, then some tornadoes went through and I was without power for a bit, now my ph in my tank keeps jumping around and I'm getting lockout bad. I try to keep it between 5.8 and 6.2, I'll get it to 6.0, it will hold for a couple days, then it will drop to like 5.0, I'll dose it to 6 again and an hour later it's 5.5. There's a bunch of variables so I'll try to fill in everything I can below.

Light on, 84f/53% hum

Growing in 60/40 coco pearlized

Using RO water with ml per gallon balance, 1 ml gal CalMag

Using cropsalt as directed + .4ml gallon Runclean

Reservoir is 11g, I mix 10 gallons nutes roughly every 3 days. I'm mixing nutes in res by adding part A to the water, turning on a strong pump and letting it mix for 15-20 mins, then dump my part b in, add run clean and ph adjust. The pump is on a timer to run for 15 mins every hour.

I am using airdomes set to run when lights are on

There appears to be mycelium growing in my pots despite not using any additives

My biggest theories,

1.Mixing in the tank is causing nutes to bind and dropout, I should get a stir mixer, mix my nutes by adding them to a half gallon of water, then add that water to my reservoir

2.My Ro water, adding Cal Mag and Balance to try and buffer it, are throwing off the levels in the cropsalt

3.The air domes are the culprit. I have heard airstones can make your ph creep up, but can they also make it creep down?

Anyways, I'd love to hear some theories and feedback. I'm a longtime grower but new to autopots

Can you diagnose ?

Day 49
My plants are very big
I went to hollydays for two weeks and the branches got to the light while my friend was taking care of the rez. But not branches of this plant that is smaller than the other, but still it was very hot. And at some point my friend did smthg that made the aeration aluminium tube to go from outside to inside the tent.
Now one of my plant (4) has issues.
Can you help me diagnose ?
I just want to be sure i dont over feed.
I am at 2 ec and have been since week 4 and it worked like a charm.
You can see it is principaly on the upper leaves.

Loading…

Ready to go with a plan this grow. This is my first SRS grow, so I am excited to see some great vigor and terp production from my final strain selections. I am open to any recommendations or feedback, but with two autopot grows under my belt, I think this will be a solid run! Looking forward to the organic terps on this run, too.

Need help

I tend to constantly get build up in my lines even using the Autopot inline filters , anybody have a additive to the Rez that actually works , I’ve tried run clean by crop salt , UC roots by current culture, hydro high % peroxide .. nothing seems to help

Question

If I use 1 gallon exactly and mix 4.6 veg an and 3.1 veg b I end up at 5.5 ph and 1.5 tds. I am already bottom feeding. Is this ok or is my water to soft. Tap from city main. I measure on a scale that I calibrate and the apero pc 60 for ph and tds which I also calibrate regularly.

Harvest Day for (Slime Machine & Dream Portal)

Really cool run. 😎 Learned a lot, and I can't wait to reset and do it all over again.

I'm gonna change a few things this next run: an earlier Cal-Mag boost during veg, go back to 20% runoff, add a little more nitrogen heading into bloom, and tweak a few other things.

Final harvest:

Dream Portal: 225 grams

Slime Machine: 347 grams

I know I can do way better. 😂

I went back through my old notes and realized I completely forgot I used to run SLF-100. I stopped using it because I ran out during COVID and it got stupid expensive. 😭

I'm also gonna test some more CX Horticulture additives and see what kind of difference they make.

That's the fun part about growing. Every run teaches you something, and the next one should always be better. O_O

Keep on growing O_O

Defective covers?

So Im setting up new system in a week or so. I unpacked to get a look at my new gear and it seems the covers are not flush. Is this a defect? I have tried bending to get them flat but it didn't work. Has anyone else been through this? Thanks

Aquavalve slow leak

I've got an aquavalve 5 I'm troubleshooting. Can't seem to figure it out.

The test: I used a syringe to drain it to before it would trigger a refill. It slowly refills anyway. About a few mms every 15 minutes. The water level never gets low enough for it to trigger a refill the way it's supposed to.

I've checked the silicone stoppers, cut back the tubing and re-attached it to the valve, and made sure the tray is level. I suspect it's more to do with the inner float, but I tried washers on the top float anyway. It didn't help.

Any ideas?

Tiger Autoflower delivers the beans

First time ordering but had heard some great things about these guys at Tiger Autoflower and their prices for seeds that help the little guy when everything else is $$$. Fast turnaround and so far 100% solid sprout. Growing in Biolite and everyone is happy. The larger girls that need some LST sprouted on 7/8. The other 4 ten days later. A note to auto pot users…the plants in the 2.2 gallon pots went right to auto watering from the solo cups. The ones in the fabric pots on the tray2grow are still being top watered (tray2grow is being turned on ina couple days). New to autoflowers and being very gentle. Do no harm eh? I’ll follow up with the details at harvest with specifics.
