Seeking headphones that don't pressure me to use a phone app

I just want headphones that:

  • Have ANC at least as good as the Sony WH-1000XM4
  • Don't pressure me to use a phone app to access features (not even once)
  • Are durable / long lasting
  • Wireless/bluetooth connection

Price range: $0 to $250

Do these have features that require phone app use?

I was thinking about getting the Sony WH-1000XM5, but I don't like headphones that need an app to get all the features.

Is there any reason I would be unhappy with buying these to just connect to a linux PC using bluetooth/wireless (with no Sony app use)?

I just want some headphones with great ANC and good build durability that don't make me feel pressured to install some phone app.

(I remember one thing that annoyed me a bit on a previous pair of Sony headphones was when the lawnmower starts up it would activate some annoying feature that either turns off or adjusts the audio, I guess because it doesn't know the difference between a lawnmower and someone talking or something...? But iirc there was a way to turn that "feature" off somehow without a phone app... , not sure what the status of that is with the XM6. )

I heard you lose the privacy benefits of GrapheneOS if you use normie apps on your GrapheneOS phone or something. So does that mean you guys don't use Spotify and running tracker apps for example?

Running apps & spotify are my main phone uses currently it seems on my iPhone

Thinking about how hard it would be to upgrade my privacy a bit with GrapheneOS

I guess if I had a good music app that respects privacy I could just make a playlist of MP3s for running, but is the running app a problem for privacy on GrapheneOS?
