Engine rod knock at 72k miles

within an 3 hour period my car went from driving beautifully to having severe rod knock, was on my way home when I noticed it was first making a slight ticking / knocking noise when letting off the gas, within 10 minutes it was then knocking while accelerating, and right before i could make it home I had to pull over and get it towed to the dealership I bought it from before it got any worse.

dealership (non toyota) has said the entire engine needs replaced, and sent me a few photos of oil / fluid samples posted above. I bought the car 6 months ago with 65k~ miles and just had an oil change not even 2 months ago at the 70k mile mark. I have a 3 year powertrain warranty that came from the dealer I bought it from, hoping they won’t fuck me over on it as they quoted me 20k for the replacement including labor of course (would never pay that).

I guess my issue here was buying the vehicle used with that many miles, I thought it’d be fine and that the issues were blown out of proportion but here I am. I don’t know what exactly caused the engine to develop rod knock and die on me nor if it was related to the oil starvation issues these cars are known for, will have more info once the warranty gets accepted or not. curious to hear other people’s experiences and would love any feedback or insight on what to do if the warranty gets denied, any info is appreciated.
