I have never seen or noticed this before but now I am intrigued. I have driven by this location for decades and never noticed. Slightly to east of Mukilteo Blvd and Paine Field Blvd is an abandoned oval speedway. I would love to see it up close but it is closed off on Paine Field property.

I tried searching historic race tracks in the air and looking through databases, but came up with nothing. I also searched the Mukilteo Historical Society website but also came up with nothing. I did find a comment from someone online saying they "used to race midgets" in Mukilteo and this is the only place that seems plausible. I did also find an article by the Mukilteo Beacon that says they know the source of the name "Mukilteo Speedway" but it is behind a paywall and I cannot see it.

Does anyone know anything about this racetrack, its name, when it opened/closed? Better yet did anyone here ever attend events there? It looks like a fun little oval and it's a shame it's been left to be overgrown by nature. To me, it seems like a reasonable source to the name "Mukilteo Speedway." Would love to learn from people who know! Thanks everyone!

Since the early days of the Craftsman truck series, the Spears Chevy was a staple. Running under the Spears Motorsports banner, they were a staple to racing in the Pacific Northwest and West Coast as a whole. They took their chances in the Craftsman Truck Series with drivers such as Bill Sedgwick, Dan Press, and names like Dennis Setzer and David Starr. But one name that ran through their organization in 1997 and 1998 may be more recognizable to you all. Kevin Harvick.

He ran a part-time schedule and 97 but then ran the full 1998 schedule minus one race. Rather shockingly Harvick never got a win but he did get three top fives. A fourth at Texas was his best result. Harvick finished 17th and points that season having more or less an average finish in the top 15 the top 20 range. He definitely showed glimpses of promise and little did we all know, he would become one of NASCAR's greats.

Personally I have always loved these Spears paint schemes. They remain the same throughout the history of the team and they continue to sponsor cars out west with this paint job. The spears family is huge in sponsoring and supporting local drivers out west and it's great to see their legacy continue all the way up to 2026.

On October 1st, 2026, Lionel Racing showed off the new Ram 1500 casting on a prototype. If this doesn't get you excited for the new casting, I don't know what does! This look incredible. This is Tony Stewart's return to racing truck, aka "Smoke." Fingers crossed they use this opportunity to also bring back proper 1:64 manufacturer castings too. Share thoughts below! A majority of the Ram pre-orders for 1:64s and 1:24s are listed as 10/31, but obviously it will probably be later.

My theory as well is the Advent Calendar will include a RAM as the box does indeed say RAM is a manufacturer within the box. My guess is it will be the only way to get Corey Lajoie's MOPAR Ram. But that's just a theory, a diecast theory!

2010 was an up and down year for Montoya. He picked up two poles, wanted New Hampshire and the other in Indianapolis, but didn't capitalize on either as he wrecked out. But he did lead 74 laps at Watkins Glen and pick up his second and Final Cup Series victory. He also managed a pole late in the season at Talladega and had an incredible finish of third.

Statistically, 2010 was his second best career season. A victory, three poles, 6 top 5s, 14 top 10s. He had an average finish of 18th and finished 17th in the points. It was a very promising season that built off a very successful 2009 season. Montoya's time at Chip Ganassi Racing was the highlight of his NASCAR Cup career.

Kenny Wallace strove the Stacker 2 Dodge for one season, it was flanked by driving a Ford in 2002 and a Chevy in 2004. It was also associated with a ridiculous ad campaign that involved Kenny Wallace himself.

Unique to this Team Caliber casting was that there were two versions of the exact same car. Some had the traditional Dodge Intrepid front end from 2002, and the one you have pictured here featured an updated Dodge Intrepid front end which better reflected the cars of 2003. They featured extra grille slot openings at the top. They must have changed it mid run through production. This is the more rare of the two versions. Some referred to this style as giving the Intrepid nostrils. Dodge would fully implement this in the '04 Dodge R/T and remove the lower front fascia.

Also during this fix, Team Caliber reduced the bulkiness of the casting and softened up the Intrepid lines a bit more and made the car look less like a brick.

Was hoping to find some old classic muscle cars but I will happily take these. I love the mighty minivans line and that orange Challenger looks pretty sweet!

The HW was from Walmart. I like me some 90s nostalgia.

This new Autotrader paint scheme is very nice. At first I wasn't too sure about it, but seeing it in person, it looks fantastic! Lionel Racing has really made 164ths so much better this past year.

2003 was a year of ups and downs for Ricky Craven and his Tide Pontiac team. They only led 16 laps the whole season but when it mattered most he stepped up and took the win in one of NASCAR's most thrilling race finishes of all time. This single win at Darlington elevated their entire season but it often overshadows how the rest of the season went.

Overall they had solid performance for the small team. Three top 5s, eight top 10s, but a disappointing 27th in points. In this era before the win and you are in playoff system, the victory was celebration enough. It didn't forcefully throw a car into the playoffs that didn't need to be there. The victory meant so much and that was enough. They won and they still ran the rest of their season. Their other highlights were a fourth at Rockingham and fourth Talladega.

But Midway through the season, performance significantly dropped off. Where before they were a top 20 team, soon they were lucky enough to just make it in the top 30. This was definitely not driver performance related and it was an organizational issue. Their manufacturer, Pontiac was suddenly going to be gone at the end of the season and they no longer had the support and strength that they did in the early part of the year. In the last 11 races of the year they had nine finishes of 30th or worse.

They would have to switch to Chevrolet for 2004 but they were at the bottom of the Chevy totem pole and performed even worse as an organization, but that's for another time.

Zane Smith is back at home with Front Row Motorsports and has this as his primary Aaron's scheme for 2026.

Spanaway, Washington's Derrike Cope achieved big things as both a driver and team owner who still actively runs a race team in 2026. Today we are going to talk about one of the greatest upsets in history, the 1990 Daytona 500.

With less than half a lap to go, Dale Earnhardt was on his way to win his first Daytona 500, but the track had a different plan. Instead Earnhardt's car got a flat tire which required him to hold on to the car and manage it at speed so that it wouldn't destroy his stock car.

Racing from second place and around Earnhardt came Derrike Cope in his Purolator Chevy Lumina stock car. Passing the 3, Cope his way to win the Daytona 500. Cope had started way back in 32nd, so a victory was a huge achievement for the small team.

Derrike's Dad was back home watching in Washington, but the local TV station blacked out the Daytona 500 and instead televised the NBA game with the Seattle SuperSonics. His Dad, Donald, grabbed the group of friends and drove an hour away to be able to watch the Daytona 500 on TV via a different market. Little did he know he would watch his son make NASCAR history.

Derrike would shut the naysayers up saying his win was a one-time hit when he came back and later one at dover. Derrike went on to say the most difficult part about winning the Daytona 500 was that he felt bad for his whole team. He knew everyone thought his win was a fluke and he didn't want the team to think that. Coming out and winning Dover later shut those naysayers up.

This was Derrike Cope's 1990 Daytona 500 victory that can never be taken away. The small team that could. The greatest Daytona 500 upset in history!

This diecast is an RCI product, the early years of RCCA and the precursor to Action.

As we come to Daytona tonight, I wanted to bring up a driver who most of us will associate with his 2001 Daytona 500 win. In 2000, Waltrip raced with Ultra motorsports. It was also the season he almost lost hope that he would ever win a NASCAR Cup race. Waltrip would say in his 2011 book, In the "Blink of an Eye," that 1999 and 2000 were the most disappointing years of his racing career and he began to lose hope that he would ever win a Cup Series race.

Waltrip would finish 29th and 27th in 1999 and 2000. Over the course of those two seasons his best finish was third at Martinsville and a 5th at Daytona. During that 2-year span she only had four top 10s.

To think he had already been driving for over a decade and at this point was truly losing hope. We thankfully know that his time to win would come soon, but at the time he had no idea.

He was picked up by Dale Earnhardt to join DEI in the number 15 Napa Chevy in 2001. Waltrip broke his streak of 462 consecutive Cup races without a victory and won his first career points-paying Cup race in the 2001 Daytona 500.

The peak of Bobby Hillin's Cup career was way back in the 1980s with the Stavola Brothers. It's where he got his one and only NASCAR Cup win at Talladega. He was a fringe top 10 driver in lesser equipment compared to others but he certainly had talent. He then pursued a career in the Busch Series when he didn't get opportunities in Cup.

Though nearly 10 years later after his peak in the 1980s, he got another shot in the Cup Series for Jasper Racing and their Ford Thunderbird. They hired him late into the 1995 season and then hired him full-time for 1996 and 1997. At least that was their goal.

Despite only a partial season in 1995 there was a lot of hope. They pulled together several top 15 finishes and even a 9th place finish at the last race of the season. Since they had no provisionals, failing to qualify was a normal occurrence for the new team.

They were plagued with more fails to qualify in 1996 and sadly lost that magic they seem to have in 1995. Despite running more races, they had less top 15s and more finishes in the 30s. They also picked up no top 10s.

They tried one more time in 1997 what saw no success. Every finish was 30th or worse except for one top 20 at Talladega. They let him go after Charlotte. He was let go and went back to the Busch Series.

Hillin started very young which is why he had a career spanning from 1982 all the way to 2009. When Helen won his race in 1986, he was the youngest Cup driver at the time to have ever won a race at age 22. He started young, and raced for several decades.

This has easily been one of the hardest diecasts to find. Not only is it very rare and limited in production, but it's just nearly impossible to find! I have been looking for this car in particular since about 2014. I've looked every storefront with no avail. It has been just as hard to find as Parker Kligerman's Dodge Challenger. But I can now finally cross this car off thanks to RowdyMatt! This car has only ever been posted once before in this community by another user (several years ago) which should tell you just how rare of the find this car is.

2007 was a transition year for NASCAR as they ran both the generation 4 car and the generation 5 COT. Scott Riggs struggled mightily in the number 10 but I'm also certain he wasn't given that good of equipment. The team failed to qualify for several races and by the end of the season they let him go. Despite this, this car was extremely cool. I loved seeing it on TV and playing it in NASCAR video games. One of my favorite Valvoline paint schemes, and that saying something since there have been so many good ones. Thankful to have this car after so many years.

For as short a time Scott Riggs was in NASCAR's top division, he had a lot of diecast made. But of those, his 2007 cars have become quite rare. Especially his car up tomorrow cars. Curious is 2007 generation 5 Stanley Tools Dodge Avenger COT. I got this one brand new, the box had never even been open.

The black was so deep and everything was so shiny on this car. It's hard to translate it over via a picture. Really impressed with the detailing on this car.

2007 would be Scott's final year in the Valvoline Dodge. In fact it would be in abysmal season where he failed to qualify several races, and they eventually just stopped showing up with him as the driver. Riggs would finish 36th in points.

It has been such a joy filling out the Johnny Lightning Stock Car Legends line of cars. They are such a quality product. It would be so cool if Round 2 was able to bring back this line. They hinted that fun things were going to be happening in that Dale Jr Download. We can only wish! 😁

Got some real cool ones here including Pete Hamilton, Buddy Baker, Marty Robbins, Rusty wallace, Darrell Waltrip, and David Pearson. The muscle car era of stock cars!

2006 was a sad year for Bobby Hamilton fans. He started the year driving his Fastenal Dodge Ram but would quit racing partially through the season due to illness. His son Bobby Hamilton Jr would take over the ride for the rest of the season. Hamilton Sr would not race again before his passing later the next year.

This is a rare Fastenal promotional piece made for Fastenal dealers. What makes it extra unique is that it's not made by any known NASCAR brand. My first guess was RC2 and Racing Champions but it doesn't appear to be. It's a completely unique casting and mold that no other brand released at the time. No other brand used this Dodge Ram refresh. It leads me to believe Fastenal reach out to someone to make this or actually made it themselves.

For being an unknown brand that made this, it's extremely detailed and quite unique. Even the interior has a good amount of detailing. Just a strange piece in the landscape of NASCAR diecast of the 2000s. Really happy to have it. I included photos of the box as well.

In the inaugural season of the NASCAR Super Trucks, there must have been some sort of information that Jeff Gordon would be driving this BSR Racing truck entry. It even featured Dupont and the iconic rainbow warrior stripes. Racing Champions made this truck but did not put Gordon's name on the roof rail. He was on the branding of the package that included a trading card with Rick Hendrick and Jeff Gordon on it.

Now here's the kicker. Jeff Gordon never drove in the Craftsman truck series. Rick Hendrick had nothing to do with his team. Scott Lagasse Sr. drove this truck in the 1995 season. The BSR Racing team was owned by Billy Hess and Butch Stevens. Lagasse posted seven top-ten finishes, two top-fives, and finished ninth in points. He had a solid top five finish at IRP and a hard and impressive run at Sears Point where he finished fourth. Despite this, Dupont chose not to return and the program and Scott Lagasse would be out at the end of the season.

It's just weird how Jeff Gordon became associated with the 24 truck, even being branded on the diecasts but never actually drove the truck. The unsung hero was Scott Lagasse Sr. I'm real curious as to how Racing Champions did this and why. There was a Scott Lagasse diecast produced by Action in their Skybox line that had Lagasse's name on the box.

After three disappointing seasons at Petty enterprises, John Andretti started 2003 with hope. They had ended last season with a little bit more consistency and found themselves getting top 20 finishes fairly often. But sadly things did not go out well in the start of 2003. Two finishes of 30th or worse in the first two races followed by an 18th and then a 29th, 38th, and 31st. Terrible start to the year. He did finally get a eighth place finish at Fontana But then followed that up with a 30th, 39th, 34th, and a 23rd at Pocono. After the race, it was announced that Petty and Andretti would split. The driver who gave the organization a handful of top fives, several top 10s, and a win at Martinsville was done. Andretti's career was on hold.

This 2003 Dodge Intrepid was made before Action would even know he would be released just 14 races into the season. It was also the first year that Action would make an Android car after losing the rights to do so for several years to Team Caliber.

After a successful tenure with Evernham Motorsports, 2009 was Kahne's first year with the Evernham-Petty merger. In fact, the team wasn't even officially called Evernham anymore. He was now a part of Petty Enterprises.

After a handful of years of scandal due to Ray Evernham himself, he now found himself part of a legendary team that had been struggling for years. The struggles didn't instantly go away but it was definitely the best Petty Enterprises had been running since the '90s.

Kahne got the team two wins including a victory at Sonoma and one at Atlanta. He got close with a second place at Talladega and two third place finishes, one at Lowe's Motor Speedway and the other at Chicagoland.

All said he finished 2009 with two wins, 7 top 5s and 14 top 10s. The best any driver had done at Petty since at least the '90s and numbers no one has matched since.

This 2009 Budweiser Dodge Charger is such a smooth and simple design harkening back to straight red paint schemes that Budweiser used to employ, especially when with Ken Schrader or Ricky Craven. It was only when they hopped aboard with Dale Earnhardt Jr that they began adding lines and stripes as part of the organization's design language. I think this car is a very handsome looking paint scheme.
