Hawkins 3 talus fracture and dislocation…viewer discretion advised
Some background: I'm an active 27 y/o male, rock climber and birder. Snapped my talus about 1.5 weeks ago in a work accident.
My surgeon told me it would be 6 months before I can bear any weight on my ankle. I have EDS so no bones ended up ripping through the skin, on any normal person it would have. I was also told I would have the change my line of work and climbing again would be unlikely. I've been in the trades my entire life and love what I do. I don't have a degree or many white-collar skills, but I need to pay the bills somehow.
Currently feeling incredibly anxious and lost. My doctor told me it was one of the worst talus fractures she's seen in her 20+ years as a foot and ankle surgeon.
