Steam is the worst citizen on macOS imo
I'm not mad, just think it's really funny. Because people complain about Electron apps or Qt apps or whatever. But Steam is much worse than those.
Completely self painted frames. So no theme color (when using graphite) or glass effect for traffic lights or unified rounded corners or native window tiling.
Use a strange convoluted structure of a Steam app (the one in your Dock but actually in the background), and Steam Helper (the window shown but not in your Dock). (try App Expose when in Steam) like what????
This one brings all sorts of weird behavior. When you launch Steam, it will steal the focus multiple times during launch (the same on Windows). Or if you have Steam running and switch from another space to the space containing Steam, "sometimes" it would jump to the from on its own. Or if you try the big picture mode, it will just outright steal focus back the moment you switch to another space.
Sure I get it Gabe. macOS is 2% of your market. But I thought Valve is a company full of goated engineers?? Like can't you guys use an actual wrapper or something?
(Before somebody says we should all just use App store, brother most people will only consider that when apple actually compete (more sales, better mod/version control, better storepage etcetc), most importantly, more games! Before John Apple decides to spend 0.1% of his infinite money on Mac gaming we are using Steam.)
