Why isn’t this (walking towards your target) the optimal way to tackle a 10 pin, or spares in general (as opposed to the second picture which seems to be the norm)?

Doesn’t it make more sense to angle yourself towards your target and also walk towards that target? This way you can align yourself perfectly and more consistently rather than having a mismatch between where your feet are going and the way your body is angled.

Obviously I am probably wrong in the way that I’m thinking, but can someone explain why?

Is it really true that you don’t need wrist/forearm strength to get under the ball during your swing?

I think you’re all lying!

No but seriously, I’ve been trying to get under the ball now for a couple weeks, and my goodness, it is SO difficult!

I can practice swinging the ball back and forth with my hand under the ball, and my poor hand will start shaking from bearing all the weight. I only use a 13 pound ball too.

Has anyone seen noticeable improvements with strength training in their forearm/wrist?

Thumb getting stuck at release

I will say that my entire life I have been squeezing with my thumb, I even had an over sized thumb hole drilled so that I could squeeze.

I’m trying to make the switch to a smoother release. I got a completely new ball with a new, proper fit with an oval thumb hole.

Problem is, my thumb is getting stuck. I’m NOT squeezing. But I also know the fit can’t be wrong because I’m also capable of dropping the ball if I think about it too much and try to be too careful with my release.

My theory is this: My whole life, I have been releasing the ball by releasing the death grip on the thumb hole. This allowed the ball to fall off my thumb, instead of consciously removing my thumb from the hole.

Is there an art to removing your thumb from the ball, or should it happen naturally with momentum?

How important is arm strength (bicep, forearm, wrist, hand) for generating revs?

I’m working on increasing my revs, I’m currently at 180 but want to get to 300.

Right now I’m on top of the ball at my release because I tend to muscle my entire swing and can’t get under the ball. I want to try and work on a more relaxed swing to get proper leverage at release.

I currently throw a 13 pound ball, but for me it is a little heavy. I’ve always had weak muscles since birth.

My first step should be to stop squeezing with my thumb. But then what’s supporting the ball on the backswing? How am I not just going to drop the ball?

I’m 6’1 and have comparatively short arms. No matter what I try, lofting the ball feels inevitable. What can I do?

This is very frustrating to me because I love the game so much, but I feel handicapped by my own body proportions. I’m never able to get low enough on my release, which results in loft. In order to get a smooth roll every time, I’d need to crouch in a way that would destroy my knees. Any advice?
