First 200! Finally!!

My dads been wanting me to join his team for a league that starts up at the end of August, but I’ve never really taken bowling seriously until now. He told me the lowest average of the league is around 160, so I have some work to do to atleast get to that point. I got my first ball (Storm Hy road 14lbs) and have been trying to get to my local center atleast 1-2 times a week for practice. Finally was able to break through 200 after about 30 games and was a great feeling. Go figure it happened after they turned on the cosmic lights for a birthday party lol. Been thinking about it non stop haha it’s safe to say I’m hooked now. I’m hovering around a 150 average for now and hope to get it up to around 170ish over the next few months.

I started off 1H conventional but wasn’t doing too great and overall my mechanics just didn’t feel right. I tried out 2H and felt a lot more comfortable and that’s what I’ve been rolling with ever since. I plan on continuing to work on my mechanics (approach, release etc) in hopes of feeling comfortable enough to join league this fall.

Next up bowling a clean game!!

Layout question

I basically need an ELI5 explanation or else it’ll go over my head!! I recently got my PAP measured and it’s 6 1/4” right and 1/4” down and the ball layout is 100 x 3 5/8 x 60. Oil slightly tracks over my middle finger hole if that means anything. What does this all mean?!?

For some context I throw 2 handed at ~13mph 350rpm and I usually have to play very far right, playing on at least 30 90% of the time or else my ball goes left. I was wondering if it’d be worth redrilling as well. Any additional knowledge would be appreciated thank you!!

Edit: This was my first ball awhile back and the PSO that drilled it didn’t ask or measure my PAP and just took hand measurements and sent me off!

Going from no-thumb to thumb-in drilling question?

Strongly considering making the switch. Would my pro shop laugh me out of the alley if I was to ask him to put a thumb hole in one of these with the current layout?

Apologies if this is a very dumb question. Figured I could either be embarrassed in person when asking the pro shop or embarrassed, somewhat anonymously, on the internet.

I appreciate any advice!

Help with form?

I have a problem with this stupid dip that I do with my arms and I’ve tried addressing it and nothing seems to work for me. I haven’t asked anyone who would know so I’m wondering if anyone has any advice? Thanks.

HELP: I want to buy my 1st bowling ball

Stats: Female, 25 years old, 5'1", average 14-15km/h speed, two-handed right side bowler, conventional grip

Context: I used to bowl once every month when I was a teenager with my family, but started getting back into it this year more seriously because of my friends. I bought Dexter shoes, a single-ball bag, and now I want to own my own ball.

Preferences: I've been pretty consistent getting strikes/ spares with the 12lb house balls, but I also tested my friends 12lb Storm Tropical Surge Pearl, drilled with a bit more forward roll since she also doesn't have much speed, and it actually worked really well with my bowling style. But personally, I do not want a Tropical Surge.

I want a ball that I can grow into and use more long-term. I'd prefer to use a 12lb ball - I understand many balls have a different core once they go over 12lbs, but I have a slightly bad back and wrists from dance/ work. I would be open to using a 13lb ball if needed. I've done extensive research on the Hammer Arctic Vibe, but the core for the 12lb is the pancake/ lightbulb core and I'm not sure if that's bad. Also since my speed is slow, I need a ball that won't hook too early.

I've attached a video of me bowling with a 12lb house ball for reference (I usually like to hook the ball much more but I can only do so much with a house).

Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions! I want a bowling ball so bad, so please help with any recommendations! Thank you in advance

What happened, and is there a ball that can supplement me in this situation?

I currently throw a 13lb Pyramid Blood Moon Rising, and I throw one-handed no-thumb. I get some good rotation, I throw rather quick at 15mph+, and I usually get pretty good reaction to hit the pocket. I only average 150ish, but I can regularly get to 180+ if I pickup my spares.

Monday was the last time I want to deal with whatever bullshit this was. The lane might have been freshly oiled. But I COULD NOT save my life on the lane. I bowled a 350 series. I was floundering. 8 boards to the right, bowling straight, bowling slower at 13mph, I couldn't get ANY reaction.

Will a simple cleaning/refinishing help the ball regain some reaction? I've used it on and off for 10 years, so its due. I wouldn't mind adding a 3rd ball to my arsenal incase I happen to run into some fresh lanes again.

Just got the bionic today !! I love it so much! What should I do form wise. What should I tweak or anything appropriate it!

Thumb rubbing help?

Hi there. I’ve been back into bowling the last 6 months or so. Sitting at like a 150 avg maybe less. One handed bowler with a Hammer Hazmat Pearl. I gotta work on my approach a lot but that’s for another time. Been trying to work on consistent releases and last week my thumb got rubbed raw on the inside. I got some glide powder stuff, tried using that today but I still felt like my thumb was rubbing at the side. Not sure why I’m having this issue all of a sudden. Could it be something in my release?

Worst Night In a Long Time

Second week of summer league. My average this winter in one league was 203 and in another, an even 200. Apparently my house got a new lane machine. I saw it in action. I guess it poured out an oily sport shot.

262 around the corner and a 420 something for the night. I’m trying to be philosophical about it and def need to work on my game to get better but damn. I’ve bowled sport shots before and was better than this.

I can say I tried to get better and make changes and all that. Just did not get much better as the night wore on. Didn’t help I missed 6 out of 7 10 pins. Brutal but 🤷‍♂️. Last week I threw a 598 which is damn near as bad.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Opinions on 3 ball bowling bag

I’m currently in the market for a 3 ball rolling bag, and I’m in between the Storm Rolling Thunder Signature 3 ball bag (two wheel, previous version) and the Motiv Vault 3 ball bowling bag. I am buying used so it’s really not about the best bang for the buck, because I found a few on marketplace for a great price. I wanted to know for the ones who own either or even both of these bags, what is your honest opinion? I know this is an age old question, but I have read all post related to my topic and cannot find a great answer for my situation. Thank you.

Is it better to have really good shoes that are a little small, or not so good shoes that fit right?

I just ordered my first pair of shoes. I found an absurd deal on Dexter sst 8 pros.I got a brand new pair for $80. Thing is, they only had one size and unfortunately they're slightly small. I'm a rock climber so I'm not too bothered by snug shoes unless it impacts performance. My question is will it be better to just live with the snug shoes, or get a lower-end model that fit properly?

BowlSense Milestone!

It's not a massive number - but slowly and steadily I'm getting more people using the app and website as well as providing feedback making it better each week. The sensor is in the hands of a few pro-shops and they are testing against their baseline systems. There have been a few pre-orders but I haven't been really pushing that until I can get validation data beyond just my own throws for people to review.

In addition to the app/sensor, the website is making quite a bit of progress too! I've had quite a few users go to www.bowlsense.io/speed to use the free, private speed/rev check. A few feedback comments have made it into the improvements pipeline already.

I've also built an arsenal builder www.bowlsense.io/arsenal-builder I'd love some more feedback on this. We as bowlers are always trying to optimize our kit and bring the right balls. I've tried to make it easy to find gaps in your arsenal, and share for feedback. The ultimate goal is to have BowlSense, not only be a sensor but a place where bolwers can get insights in the blog, useful tools to visualize how balls will react and ultimately improve their game by choosing strategies and equipment that helps them specifically, not just "The Average Bowler"

I have to thank you all for helping it grow, providing feedback and continually giving inspiration to keep progress going! It's been awhile since I've provided any updates so wanted to get a post out there to my fellow bowlers!
