Black Lug Nuts Question

For those of you who changed to black lug nuts, were they the same length as the stock ones you took off? I was looking at Gorilla black lug nuts as a replacement and they seem longer and stick out past the whole/rim. I contacted them and they told me it's a 1/4" longer then the stock lugs but it looks funny extending further than the hole.

Can anyone share pictures of your black lug nuts and maybe share a link with where you got yours?

Dashboard Tire Pressure Reading Accuracy

Just curious if anyone knows how accurate the readings on the dashboard tire pressure readings are? I was in the process of comparing this and unfortunately my pencil gauge broke. I found a replacement and I inflated to 41 psi (2021 JGC High Altitude - stock rims and 265/50R20 tires) on my Milwaukee 18V Inflator and the gauge measured right on at ~41 psi. The dashboard had 44-46 psi.

Which is more accurate so I know how to properly fill up the tires?

Hearing Several Clunks When Accelerating - '21 JGC

I've done some searching and haven't found anything related. Although I am hearing another clunk from the front left going over speed bumps or raised pavement, I believe that is unrelated to this issue. I'm also trying to determine Jeep nuances vs actual issues.

I recently heard clunk, clunk, clunk, (clunk) quickly and consecutively while driving after hitting the gas pedal. There is a slight delay from hitting the gas pedal until the Jeep accelerates and the RPM's increase. Just before that acceleration and the RPM revving up, I hear this faint clug sound. Clunk is too abrupt of a term because it's not a harsh metal on metal type sound but I noticed it with my windows open and a center divider separating a roadway to my left.

If this is making any sense to you and you have a suggestion, I'm all ears.

"Cleaning Up" Harmon Kardon Audio

This is a rather subjective topic and I respect everyone's opinions. I'm not an audiophile but I do have an appreciation for nice sounding, crisp music/audio. I am a fan of the audio system, for the most part, in my JGC High Altitude but I feel it can be cleaned up some.

I'm not looking to replace the head or the speakers but have considered getting a better amp. I have entertained replacing the sub but I'm not sold on it.

Curious what you've done to improve your Harmon Kardon sound system or tweaks you've made. I've adjusted the limited EQ settings and have the bass turned down to -4 or -5 and there is still some thump. I do not use the Surround On setting either. I'm not very well versed in amps enough to determine if there is a way to route the bass out of the doors to allow the sub to handle it all but wondering what can be done overall. Additionally, I'm curious what the benefits would be by switching amps. I also wouldn't mind some louder audio.

'21 GC High Altitude HID to LED Head Lamps

I've gone down the LED conversion rabbit hole. I've been reading about converting the low beams (I'd like to do high beams too) from the OEM HID to LED's. There seems to be contradicting thoughts on whether this can be done or not. My current HID lights are not great. I'd like to update to LED's for better visibility. Replacing these lights in general seems to be a moderate task so I don't want to take things apart to find out they don't work.

  • Is it possible to go from HID to LED for low beams? (high beams if they aren't LED)
  • Does this require any conversion kit?
  • Do the LED's need to have the heat dissipation sync/fans or similar stature to the current HID bulbs?
  • I was looking at Diode Dynamic SL2 Pro bulbs. Will they work as plug and play or do I need to use Jscan to adjust settings?

I recently swapped out the cargo lights, reverse lights and rear turn signals to LED's and really appreciate how they look. Now I'm looking to do the rest interior/exterior.

Hi folks. Looking to swap out the incandescent 3157 rear turn signals for LED's. To prevent them from rapid flash, I'm going to install resistors. For those who have done this... where did you fasten the resistor after taping into the wires and securing the light housing? Is there enough space behind the light housing? Did you drop it in the gap in the bumper?

It's recommended to fasten it to metal to help dissipate the heat but just curious where people are fastening the resistor?

Hello all. I'm back into a jeep after a long hiatus and so far I'm loving it. I had a 94 and 01 Sport that both lasted over 250k miles. RIP to the straight 6. I plan to keep this for quite some time and would like some info or direction about some tools to help maintain it as well as upgrade the rear turn signals to LED's.

- Do I need a specific part/tool for OBD2 scanner? I currently have a BlueDriver but have been reading about other OBD2 scanners that may be better for Jeeps. After additional research, it appears a security bypass cable is needed to write to the vehicle. Is this bypass cable required just to read codes as well?

- I'm looking to upgrade the rear turn signals and reverse lights to LED's. What am I looking for in descriptions or other product details to prevent flickering? I'm new to the LED world and want to learn and do it the right way. Do either of these require a kit or special harness to configure from halogen to LED? I saw Diode Dynamics were reputable in this sub.

- I currently have a DVD player in the center console which leaves little room for storage. I plan to take it out but I won't be able to tackle this project for a while. For others with storage constraints, what options do you have that has allowed you to neatly store some of your essentials that need to be in the vehicle? I normally keep a flashlight, multi-tool, toothbrush, hitch locks, etc. in the center console but would love some ideas for storing things that doesn't look sloppy.

- Thanks to this forum, I did purchase a warranty (5 yr/75k miles from jeepfactorywarranty[dot]com. By far, the best price I could find and over $1,000 less than what Mopar quoted. I received a quote from Zeigler which was higher than what I purchased. Highly recommend them if you are shopping price.

- Anything else worth sharing? I've been pillaging this sub and greatly appreciate the knowledge shared about Jeeps. Repairs seem to be hit or miss which is why I opted for the warranty. I'm glad to join the Jeep club again and thanks in advance.
