Central Library Time Capsule Opening
There’s a 1977 time capsule in the Central Library park below the statue of David Burbank and it’s supposed to be opened on July 4th this year! A few days ago I asked a couple library staff about it and none of them were aware and were surprised when I told them. Seems like it’s been completely forgot about.
Anyone have any idea who might be responsible for opening these? The library staff thought maybe it could be a city of Burbank thing.
JULY 4TH UPDATE: The library posted a video today. They opened it and the other capsules too since they would’ve needed to open them soon anyway when the library moves locations. They said they’ll be revealing the contents online soon and also creating a new capsule to bury. Still think it would’ve been cool to open it publicly, but glad they took action.
