Peugeot 206 WRC Gravel + Tarmac setups!

Hey guys, i'm back!

My work has slowed down a bit due to irl plans, and will continue to be so for at least the upcoming month. And i don't wanna rush these, as they might not turn out as good as possible. However i will continue to make setups for you. :)

I'll keep it short this time.

As per usual, i've improved stability, grip, responsiveness and braking for both gravel and tarmac. I'm satisfied with how they have turned out.

  • If you feel like the gearing needs to be a bit shorter (or longer), only change the center diff ratio. That's the simplest way to do it.

  • Shifting needs to be done when the rpm gauge turns red. The car loses a lot of power after that. Not worth going to the limiter.

I think these setups will be able to break records as well in the hands of those capable enough.

I hope you guys will enjoy, and that you get some good times with these! :)

From dogshit To Race Car!: Fiat 131 Abarth Tarmac Setup (Patch 5.1)

Hey guys, i saw lots of complaints about the 131 and decided to take it for a spin myself.

Turns out the car is completely undrivable when stock, so no, it's not you!

From weird rear understeer turning into oversteer, and steering that feels like it lacks any caster angle and being overly floaty, to something actually drivable!

You can now expect it to be able to counter it losing grip. Countersteering and managing your throttle actually works now. It also should be able to take bumps and high speed corners now without randomly kicking the rear out at unreasonably slow speeds. Now it only does it when you are too sudden with the turn in and are reckless with the throttle.

Please keep in mind that this setup only works when using all of these settings together. I would not recommend mishmashing it with some of your own ideas, unless you really know what you're doing. (Diff ratio is safe tho, as that's just gear length)

  • If you still think it slides a little too easily, simply increase the diff preload to 50. I've chosen 49 bc i like this for hairpins. Yes, 1 makes a big difference already. Still not enough? Just keep increasing it by 1.

  • Be careful with downshifting! The clutch is very aggressive, so if you downshift at too high of an rpm, it'll kick the rear out like a mule. You gotta rev match.

If you have any questions as to why i've chosen certain settings over something more realistic, feel free to ask!

Hopefully you can enjoy it now! :)

Peugeot 306 Maxi Final Setup Edition! + Bonus Gravel Setup (Patch 5.1)

Hello everyone,

It's been a little bit, but i'm back after spending literal days of playtime on the 306's setup. This is going to be the final version i'll make (until the physics change drastically again), so i really wanted to take my time on this one and implement everything i've learned over the weeks since 5.1 came out, to hopefully perfect it.

I've seen some people complain about the lift-off oversteer this car has, including with my last setup version. I feel like i've eliminated nearly all of that. You may still want to use a tiny bit of throttle in certain corners here and there tho, to keep the car stable.

While fixing the oversteer, i've also fixed the understeer. You can now properly control your driving line by decreasing or increasing the throttle input, and mostly not have to worry about throttle understeer (aka one wheel spinning during acceleration). This is done by allowing the diff to open up while off throttle more so than normally by using a fairly low amount of plates, and letting it grip up nicely at full throttle by using the tighter 30 diff ramp.

The extra preload (compared to the 40 in my previous version) is simply just for stability, so that the car isn't too jittery off throttle, but not too high allowing you to still have responsive steering.

The brakes have also been changed so that you can properly trail brake, and also not have oversteer while slowing down from high speeds (if you brake mindfully). They are now more effective as well, compared to my previous setup.

Rear springs have been softened to reduce the earlier mentioned lift-off oversteer, and damping and roll bars all around have been changed to give the car a responsive, grippy and stable feel. No more aggressive bouncing from stiffening the car too much, or a car that barely wants to respond to steering input like with the stock setup.

The main setup uses 6 gears. I've added 2 extra images that are for those that want to use 7 gears.

One strange thing that i've learned is that wheel alignment is reversed. Negative is toe in, instead of toe out. They might want to fix that, haha. Might confuse some folk.

As a bonus, i've included a decent Gravel setup for those who enjoy FWD gravel rallying. :)

I would also like to give credit to u/V8Datsun240Z, for doing some test driving for me and giving good feedback.

And lastly i've placed 7th with it on one of the Sisteron versions, so i'm quite happy! I believe that someone capable enough will be able to beat the record with it.

Enjoy!

Citroen Xsara Tarmac + Updated Gravel setup!

(for patch 5.1)

Hey, it's me again! :)

I've made a tarmac setup for this car, because some people have been asking for it. I have also updated the gravel setup, because it's been a few weeks since 5.1 and i've figured a lot of new things out, since.

For tarmac i have made the car more stable, responsive and grippy. The brakes have been changed to reduce them locking up. They are still sensitive tho, so don't brake too hard. I could only decrease the pressure so much sadly. Hence why it's got medium pads instead of soft pads. The gearing has also been changed, to fully utilize the power range of the rpms. You'll want to shift when you see red bc the car loses power after that, so acceleration will be better if you shift up, instead of revving it out.

Ideal shifting speeds on no incline are 70-90-110-135-155 and tops out around 210 in 6th gear.

As for gravel, i did indeed post a setup for this before, which does improve the car from stock. However, it doesn't have a solution for the slippier physics from 5.1. This has been solved with this updated version. It's more responsive than stock, and less bouncy than my previous setup. It also has much (not an exaggeration) more grip in general with the updated setup. You'll really feel it pull itself forward, instead of sliding everywhere. Gearing is slightly shorter than the tarmac version. This is done so that it can pull itself out of slides faster, as you'll want for gravel. Same as before, you'll want to shift when you see red.

Ideal shifting speeds are around 60-80-100-125-150 and tops out around 200.

Lastly, i will post demo videos to show what is possible with these setups. They'll be in separate posts, because it's impossible to combine pictures and videos. :)

Hope you guys get some good times!

Subaru Impreza Double-whammy Setup! (Patch 5.1)

Hey everyone, i'm back again but this time i bring you not 1, but 2 setups :)

I've made both a gravel and a tarmac setup for the Subie.

I believe that the stock setups were pretty good already, so the devs did improve them in 5.1, bc in 5.0 it understeered a lot

Either way, there were still improvements to be made.

For gravel it should now have more grip, stability, and be more responsive, so you will be able to drive apexes more often instead of having to go sideways (at least on Greece, bc Wales is very slippery no matter what). Brakes are already good for gravel, so i haven't touched them in this case.

For Tarmac it's pretty much on rails now. It won't really oversteer unless you use the handbrake or do a scandyflick. You should be able to take corners at higher speeds without having to worry about the car breaking loose, off into the bushes. I also decreased the understeer during hard braking by changing the brakes in this case.

In both cases i've shortened the gearing a lot, bc the gears were too long, so long in fact that you wouldn't ever reach 6th gear. It should accelerate now like you would expect from a ~300hp rally car.

Edit: i recommend setting the front and rear diff ratios to 40/19, so 1 click up. I feel this one is slightly too short, bc the car loses a bunch of torque once it gets into the red rpms.

*If you wish to change the gearing length, make sure you change the front and rear ratios equally to avoid changing the power distribution bias (so 1 click both). Don't touch the center ratio to rear, bc it'll change the bias as well. It does not have a center diff ratio like other cars do.

*Don't change the tire pressure for the gravel setup. For this car, 30 psi has the most grip. I've tested it by checking the highest speeds i could go through certain corners without losing grip. Lower pressures might feel like they "bite" more, but they don't. They just feel that way. On tarmac you may lower it to change the feel of the car's response, but grip is already enough at 29 psi.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Lancia Delta Integrale Tarmac Setup! (patch 5.1)

Hey guys, here's another setup for you! :)

I felt that this car was very sluggish and slow when stock, and i believe top 20 times are not possible like that with this car. You simply just cannot maintain high enough speeds through corners, besides the slow acceleration.

So i've decided to change all of that and made it much more responsive, stable and it shouldn't understeer during hard braking anymore. I also gave it faster acceleration by changing the gearing, so you wont have trouble with turbo lag anymore. With this i believe that someone capable enough is able to beat the WR.

It should be good for all of the tarmac stages.

And i've placed 14 out of 140+, so i'm satisfied. Though i might play around with it a bit more to see if there's anything else to improve. :)

There's extra gearing information in the comments as well if you're interested.

(Sorry for the reupload. That was a set of pictures from a few days ago. I have improved it even more since, so these are the actual current ones)

(If you post this elsewhere, please be kind enough to credit my username. Thanks!)

Youtuber named "BUBS" misleads people by promoting the account locking cheats!

He pretends that this will unlock everything including camos, and so do the commenters. (this is obviously false, bc mentioned Yeet in the comments actively locks people's accounts, not maxing them in a good way.)

I have reported him to Youtube already, and hopefully that does something. But my hopes are low.

Peugeot 306 Maxi Setup! (updated for patch 5.1)

Hey everyone,

This patch changed a surprising amount of physics compared to 5.0 after lots of further testing this week. The last 306 setup i made also became a lot different because of that. So since this is my favorite car, i decided to update it's setup!

Brakes have sadly gotten a lot weaker with this patch, so i've tried my best getting the most out of them. This does mean you will need to brake earlier and use engine braking a lot. So make sure you get those nice downshifts instead of staying in high gear for too long.

Damper and tire physics have also changed, so i've changed those as well.
It turns out that tire pressure is actually really important now, and makes a big difference compared to the past, where it mostly just changed the responsiveness of the car. Lower pressures do still make the car slightly slower with the turn in, but creates more grip now and therefore you can send it through corners faster without losing grip :)

I've also lowered the car a bit more and changed the roll bars, so that it stays more planted and changes direction faster. It won't bottom out on Tarmac, so don't worry.

Differential physics also changed, but for tarmac they have mostly stayed the same. You'll notice it a lot more on gravel. You'll be able to use less front diff plates now for similar results. But this is kind of irrelevant for this car.

Anyways, i managed to place 7th out of 160, so i'm satisfied with how the setup turned out. Times will be on the last image. It should be usable for all of the tarmac stages.

(If you'll post this setup elsewhere, please be kind enough to credit my username. Thanks :)

Citroen Xsara Gravel Setup!

Here's the Xsara setup i promised to make!

What i've done is: shortened the gearing, made the car more responsive, and made the car more predictable. It is lower and stiffer, so you may want to avoid large rocks, but those are not something you'd want to drive over anyways. You'll also be able to optionally do those crazy big powerslides now, like shown in one of my previous posts.

I'm not as good at gravel as i am at tarmac, so top 10 will have to do for me for now.

Next up will be another tarmac setup, or the 131 Abarth, or the Stratos.

If you find any imperfections, pls let me know and i'll try to adjust it.

WR run with the 037! (And some positive feedback)

I did not expect to end up here but, but here we are. Though by tomorrow somebody else will probably already have claimed the number 1 spot, as this patch reset the leader boards again.

My feedback is that while gravel feels a lot more slippy, tarmac feels amazing! I'm using the exact same setup that i've posted on my profile last week, but there's just more grip now, enough so that i've gained like 5~10 km/h per corner.

Time result will be in the comments if possible. If not, just ask for a dm if you want proof or something like that :)

(Also, yes in case you've noticed, my wheels are twitching at the start. I play on controller, and this has weirdly been happening since 0.3 or 0.4. It's annoying at the starting line, but once i get going it stops affecting the car. Would be nice if that got patched tho, bc it makes for ugly first person footage)

u/NaZul15 — 3 months ago

I'm not sure this amount of sliding is realistic, but it's definitely a lot of fun!

You can take huge power slides now, as of the latest patch.

Grip under throttle feels good! AWD cars straighten/recover well now (as you can see in this video), and keep the forward propulsion going towards the direction you're steering. But maybe it's a bit too loose when neutral.

Also, keep in mind that i'm using my own setup that i made for the Xsara. I'm not sure this is possible with the stock setup. I haven't tried.

If you're interested in a nice setup for this car, check this sub or my profile once in a while for the next few days! I'll be posting it. Just making finishing touches and hopefully get a good time with it.

Lancia 037 Tarmac Setup! (tamed the beast :)

Hey everyone, here i am yet again.

I've seen many posts about the 037 being hard to drive, so i've decided on making a setup for it!

What i've done is increased stability and predictability, decreased snappy steering, shorten the gearing and you can save it from losing traction more easily now, by letting go of the throttle and countersteering for a second. You may even do a controlled powerslide in 1st or 2nd gear ;)

I've also managed to become 4th yet again (maybe this is my place, lol)

Hope you guys enjoy, and let me know of your results!

Peugeot 306 Maxi tarmac setup!

I fixed the front wheels locking up while braking, improved the predictability, made stability improvements and decreased the chance of the car 2 wheeling in certain corners.

It should rotate nicely and have enough but not too much rear sliding while braking hard for that understeer correction when going slightly too hot into a corner.

For hairpins/tight corners, quarter/half throttle should do the trick, and if in doubt, tap the handbrake shortly to rotate your rear around. You'll want to use the handbrake while in the center of the corner, not before. Let it rotate and then half throttle to gain grip again.

I feel like since this update, they really improved fwd car throttle control and steering. It seems to actually not understeer now when using quarter throttle, which it did before. The car also lost the need for medium rear tires to mitigate said understeer, so overall these are big improvements. :)

*This gearing and diff setup is for 6 gears! If you prefer 7 gears, check the last 2 extra photos.

Also managed to be just 7 seconds behind 1st place on Monte variant 3 with this on a controller, so with a wheel this should do even nicer!

Enjoy! :)

Alpine A110 setup!

I made it for u/piwikiwi, because he asked for one in my last post about the Subie.

Got 4th with it, so i feel like it's quite good!

Should decrease the bounciness and improve stability and control.

(I don't understand why a 850kg car needs springs and dampers that stiff in stock setup. Makes it super bouncy)

Hope you guys like it!
Feel free to ask for setups for other cars. I don't mind, bc i'll use said setups myself as well.

(Don't post these setups on Reddit or other websites claiming they are yours though. That would sadden me ;-;. At least give some credit by mentioning my username! Much appreciated)

Fixed the understeer on the Subie

Turns out all that was required was changing the diff (and i shortened the gearing a lot to something that makes sense for gravel)

Just copy these.

Advice for anyone struggling with this challenge:

- start with a nose blunt

- you'll want to not trick off the first ledge. just use your speed to get to the second one.

- when in the air, turn to the right and pull your right stick down so your board goes backwards and you land with a tailslide

- 180 flip trick is simple

- to make sure you get the 750 points, land in a manual, and keep rolling for a bit until you get there, or get close and finish with a flip trick. The sequence ends only once all wheels land or when your tail slides on the ground

306 Maxi torquesteer problem

To clarify, i love what the devs are doing with the game.

I just wanted to say that the amount of torquesteer on the 306 is not realistic, even after tuning to 45/90 diff and 2 plates and minimal preload. The car in real life is way more "on rails" than it is in game. FWD cars don't always have bad torquesteer you know?
