a dude found this green Augusta National jacket at a Toronto thrift store for 5 bucks. Just thought the jacket was cool and didn't realize how valuable it was until years later, when the Masters jacket sold at auction for $139,349.

imagine finding mayan artifacts thrifting

someone found this pottery at a thrift store in Maryland for $3.99 each. Years later experts determined it was an authentic mayan artifact from around 600 CE. The lady eventually ended up giving it back to Mexico rather than selling it.

a woman in ohio bought a painting at goodwill for just $2.99 because she noticed the name “johann berthelsen” on the frame. it turned out to be an original work by the american impressionist and later sold at auction for $2,875. definitely worth checking the signatures on those random thrift store paintings.

is flippr actually worth it? IMO

If you only look up a few items each month, Flippr probably is not worth it. eBay search will do the job. but if you are serious about getting into reselling and trying to find new things to flip, and value stuff fast, it is a must have.

It becomes useful when you are standing in front of a shelf, stack, or large lot and checking everything manually would take forever.

You can photograph multiple items at once, and Flippr identifies them and pulls sold comps, active listings, sell-through rates, and estimated profit. The goal is to help you narrow 100 possible items down to the handful actually worth researching.

That speed is the real value. Even if you are just valuing random objects, you could search each one, indivudally on google lens or ebay, but you have to take the picture, let it load, see the results, filter through it in your head and make a decision.

Flippr allows you to just take a picture of something and move on, take a picutre of another thing, move on. Then whenever you want you can look back and see if it something is worth your time to dig deeper into. It allows you to move so much faster and there is no risk in looking up something new.

I think this is one of the best things about flippr. It allows you to discover unexpected flips that other people don't recognize or skipped because they didn't recognize it. Thats the benefit here is that scanning anything takes such little effort than you can discover all kinds of new things.

Flippr does not replace reseller judgment. Condition, edition, shipping, and your actual buy cost still matter. It simply helps you cover more ground and makes it less likely that you skip something valuable because you did not have time to look it up.

If it saves you an hour sourcing or helps you catch one item you would have missed, it can pay for itself pretty quickly. We built it because reselling has a real research problem. There is value sitting everywhere, but finding it one item at a time is slow.

BOLO of the day: Original 1991 Dungeons & Dragons Rules Cyclopedia

If you ever come across one of these, make sure to pick it up. This original D&D book often sells for over $120. Although you will want it in decent condition, even a damaged book will still be a good flip!

BOLO of the day: Pioneer SX-450 AM/FM stereo receiver.

Working ones are selling around $200! Check the SX-450 badge, both channels, tuner, inputs, knobs, and lights. Easy to overlook as bulky old electronics, collectors love these things, and they sell great!

BOLO of the day: Watch for a Singer Model 66 sewing machine

Easily sells for around $120. Verify the model or serial, complete pedal or treadle setup, and that it actually sews. People often pass these off as heavy old decor, but working machines still sell great!

BOLO: Canon EOS Rebel T5

BOLO of the day: Canon EOS Rebel T5 with the EF-S 18-55mm IS lens. Working black kits are selling around $175. Check the T5 badge, included lens, shutter, autofocus, flash, card slot, and lens mount. Older DSLR kits are easy to pass over, but a ready-to-use Canon still has buyers.

BOLO Day 1: E-Z-GO PowerWise 36V golf cart charger

BOLO of the day: E-Z-GO PowerWise 36V golf cart charger, model 28115 G04.

These look like a random old charger, but used ones are selling for around $150. I found 85 sold comps, with most landing between $125 and $160.

Check the model number, make sure it works, and look for the two-pin plug. They are heavy, so this one is probably better sold locally.

👋 Welcome to r/Flippr - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Welcome to r/Flippr

this sub is a place for reselling stuff that isn't just links and ads.

Here's what this is for:

Hauls — post what you found and what it's worth. Thrift, yard sales, estate sales, whatever. If you scanned it in Flippr, drop the numbers.

Tips — sourcing tricks, pricing tricks, what to look for, what to skip. The stuff you only learn by doing it a while.

BOLOs — brands, sets, editions, anything worth keeping an eye out for. If you keep seeing something sell well, tell the group.

A few ground rules: be helpful, no spam, no dropshipping garbage. I'll post here too — mostly finds and updates on Flippr. If you have questions about the app or feature requests, this is a good place for those too.

Glad you're here. Post your first haul.
