Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0 DIY upgrade to a full-fledged sim rig.
Hi, I’d like to share and hopefully inspire others with my DIY modification of the Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0 into a full-fledged sim rig.
The construction is made from 50x100 mm KVH timber beams mounted on lockable caster wheels. It is attached to the stand using two M8 bolts on each side, threaded directly into the factory-made mounting points already present on the stand. The wooden frame itself is assembled using long wood screws and angle brackets, and reinforced on top with an 18 mm board (OSB, or in my case, some leftover kitchen shelving 😁).
For the seat, I chose one from a VAG-group passenger car, which offers the advantages of low cost, comfort, and height adjustment. Thanks to that, people of different body sizes and preferences can easily swap in and out of the rig, and last but not least, it’s a seat I’m already used to.
The whole setup is surprisingly sturdy — it doesn’t move even by a millimeter — and in my opinion, it’s an ideal alternative for people considering an upgrade to a full sim rig but who don’t want to go down the route of the official NLR add-on or expensive aluminum profiles.
