Do you think it’s fair to alter a real life incident in the name of creative freedom?

Whenever a “based on true events” film is released, the internet’s search results are flooded with the movie itself instead of a factual blog post that accurately depicts the actual events. The audience is never told which parts of the movie are fictional and which are factual, raising a significant risk of historical manipulation. What do you think?
