Advice for 2-month solo trip to Madinah during Ramadan 2027 (30M)

As-salamu alaykum,

I am making this post for any insight, recommendations, or advice for a trip I am planning to Madinah during Ramadan of 2027.

The idea is to arrive in Madinah approximately 3-4 weeks before Ramadan starts (mid-January 2027) and travel back home to the US about 3-4 days after Eid.

I am a 30-year-old single Palestinian-American male traveling solo. I speak Arabic relatively fluently but cannot read it. I don’t have a strict budget, but I’m not looking for anything lavish—just comfort, accessibility, and convenience.

The main purpose of this trip is to purify my nafs, deepen my knowledge of my deen, and allow myself time to detox from the Western world and the fitnah surrounding me. I have made up my mind on this journey and understand what I am looking to achieve.

I see many posts recommending staying as close as possible to the Haram, finding a place within walking distance to the masjid, or near local spots like Quba Avenue.

Does anyone have itinerary recommendations or housing advice? I am not sure if I should commit to one spot early, or if I should split it up every two weeks to avoid the risk of a rental not being as advertised. I am flexible and open to staying with a roommate for a few weeks.

For those who have done an extended spiritual stay before Ramadan starts, how did you structure your daily routine to balance study, rest, and prayer without burning out before the holy month actually begins? I intend to regularly visit the masjid for daily salah, and attend lectures. Is there any Masjid that have lectures in English?

JazakAllahu Khayran in advance for any helpful advice!
