Getting to meet my childhood hero-Michael Golden

This past weekend I went to fan expo in Chicago, specifically to meet Mr Golden and get some books signed. That particular issue of Micronauts is the first comic book that I bought with my own money at the age of 7. I'd had plenty of Comics before that, my uncle would give me piles of books but that was money I made mowing someone's lawn haha

MF #1 was a book that I had a couple copies of throughout my childhood because I wore it out reading it. Spider-Man and mutated dinosaurs? Come on, that's every kid's dream combo.

He could not have been a nicer guy. I showed up half an hour before he opened up his booth so I got some time to shoot the shit with him. This guy was literally what made me start drawing because I thought his stuff looked so cool. I would trace over panels and pages over and over. He even knocked about 30% off his rate because it was clear that I was not getting these signed for resale by any means. They tell you to never meet your heroes, but in this case I am extremely glad I did. It's rare that you get to shake the hand of somebody who had a genuine impact on your life.
