Charlton Lovers Represent!

Who here has a treasured trove of Charlton comics? When I was a kid, they were super cheap so I bought many books at countless flea markets and quarter bins at comic shops. Was especially fond of the Ditko titles (Captain Atom, Blue Beetle, and the Question) but my faves were Space:1999, the Six Million Dollar Man, and any Phantom stories drawn by Aparo or Don Newton. What were your faves?

The full run.

Starting reading while the series was in the mid-twenties issues. Easy at that time to get all the back issues around the NJ/Philly area.
Seeing the prices these days make me really wanna sell…but I know I’ll regret it.

Jack Kirby signed FF #73. Authentic?

Was wondering if this is with getting CGC x JSA authenticated. From an estate sale in Southern California. Originally owned by a comic collector going back to the 50s. Has a stamp from Passport Book Shop, a store near where Kirby lived that held many signings in the 70s and 80s.

Discovered that I own Flash (1987) 1-230 + Annuals. Suggestions?

I have always been interested in collecting all sort of things since I was a kid and I noticed that after cleaning out my parent’s basement there was a comic box that I won at an auction back when I was 13 years old or so.

This seems to contain the 1987 Flash Series and a little bit of The Green Lantern series. When I got these comics I must have stored them away because back then I only really wanted The Amazing Spider-Man comics.

Not sure what to exactly do with them all now because I don’t really have the space for them even though they seem really cool. I just don’t necessarily want to be responsible for further damaging these collectibles.

Only comic space I have is for my damaged The Amazing Spider-Man comics. Oh well.

A couple from the collection

I’m pulling comics for a local show and thought these might interest some people. Pretty sure I bought them both off the stand, but then the 300 should have been a Mark Jewelers as well. So maybe I got it later? I do know it was signed at the Spiders Web in Puyallup WA, Todd was a co-owner and did several signings there over the years.

Sometimes, you just have to say, WHAAAAAAAT THE DUCK!!! ✨️😜🦆

I was digging through my boxes today and pulled out this Amazing Spider-Man #17 variant. It’s an American Gothic parody that never fails to make me smile.

There’s something so perfect about Howard the Duck being dropped into this iconic, serious setting. It reminds me a bit of the "trapped in a world he never made" energy Howard has carried for decades. He’s the ultimate outsider—a cynical, sarcastic, and existential duck who just happens to keep finding himself in situations he didn't create and didn't ask for.

Honestly, that’s a mood. Sometimes, you just have to lean into the absurdity, shrug, and keep moving forward.

Does anyone else have a favorite "outsider" character that helps you keep your perspective when the hobby, or life in general, gets a little too serious?🦆

Nearing the end of the Tillies with this swimsuit cover. Tillie The Toiler Book 6 (1931 Cupples & Leon). A little racier than the average cover back then.

Is it better to use resealable bags or regular bags with blue tape?

I’ve been using resealable bags ever since I got back into comics, but I bought a copy of ASM 601 sealed with blue tape at a convention and I’m wondering if that seller knows something I don’t

Got my ASM 1 Signature verified!

Did it through Grad Authentication's digital signature verification program! Always been a big fan of the show Pawn Stars, so I thought it was pretty cool! Didn't want to get the book graded (cost, preference for raw books)!

Here’s a look inside my copy of Marvel Mystery Comics #21! Published July 1941!

Decided to finally crack out my MMC #21 and thought everyone might enjoy seeing the interior of the book! The first appearance of The Patriot. Has art from Alex Schomburg, Jack Kirby, Joe Simon, Bill Everett, Carl Burgos and more with a very early Stan Lee text story! Talk about an impressive lineup!

Famous Monsters #1

Not technically a comic book but adjacent in its collectibility. I grabbed this low grade Famous Monsters #1. It’s seen better days. The cover is quite worn with a big chunk missing. Trying to decide if there’s a way to restore it or just keep it as is. The inside pages are in excellent condition.

Best way to store small comic collection, binder or box?

Hi,

Recently I have got back into reading comics after watching the HQAS on HBO (Finally came to UK)

I have about 15 comics now (Plus some I acquired in my teens), but want to grow my collection.

I was thinking a binder but boxes seem more practical?

Thanks!
