A typical job seeker in the Philippines needs at least the following:
*NBI Clearance
*Police Clearance
*Barangay Clearance
*Medical Certificate (sometimes with drug test, X-ray, etc.)
*SSS Number (Social Security System)
*PhilHealth Registration (PhilHealth)
*PAG-IBIG Number (Pag-IBIG Fund)
*TIN (Tax Identification Number) via the Bureau of Internal Revenue
*Valid IDs (often multiple)
*Diploma / TOR (even for unrelated jobs)
*Resume with experience (even for “entry-level” roles)
*Sometimes: height requirement, appearance standards, or age limits
You will have a hard time getting all the requirements for a job, na job order lang at hinde permanent position. Not to mention the horrible commute back and forth to government offices.
Yet, under the Local Government Code of the Philippines, the legal requirements are surprisingly minimal:
*Must be a Filipino citizen
*Must be a registered voter in the municipality/city
*Must be able to read and write
*Must be at least:
*21 years old (municipality/city)
*Must be a resident of the place for at least 1 year before election day
That’s basically it. No degree, no clearance, no prior government experience required.
You can be a convicted drug lord serving sentence in a jail and you can be elected into public office.
You can be a convicted mutineer and be a Senator.
