Jottacloud confusion

looking to replace/supplement backblaze b2 for home backup use I came across Jottacloud and liked their pitch so signed up for a demo. was pretty disappointed /confused.

They seem to be aimed at users who at least somewhat understand or have concerns about data security - Norwegian company etc etc but then the product seems a bit ‘dumbed down’.

- the ‘unlimited plan’ is 5tb. Or if you’re pushing it more disingenuously with the throttling, maybe a barely useable 6-7TB. Why call it unlimited? Very misleading.
-no e2e encryption. Ok it’s in Norway but what about; rogue employees, espionage, hacks, government bulk data collection? Even the CLI can’t encrypt at source

- the gui is extremely basic and not a ‘proper’ backup solution more a sync control panel for odd folders. feels worse than Dropbox but covering your entire system not just one main cloud folder. What’s worse is it’s mostly sync rather then backup/ snapshot and seems like there’s more chance of losing files by deleting on the cloud snd syncing back to your local copy.
-so I figured I’d use rclone which would also help copying data between other clouds as well as encrypt but that isn’t supported and errors crop up for me whereas not so with other providers.

Seemed like a good service at a good price on paper and I was sold but in reality it’s a bit of a letdown. Am I missing something? Anyone using it and having good experience?
