Has anyone experienced this with YouTube Shorts?

My channel was doing really well with Shorts only - good views, engagement, and consistent activity. But after I uploaded 2 long-form videos (same niche, same style, same audience), the activity dropped across the entire channel, including the Shorts.

Now even my Shorts are getting pushed much less than before.

Did I confuse the algorithm somehow?
Should Shorts and long-form content be separated on different channels?
Or is this just temporary?

Would really appreciate any advice or similar experiences.
