2026 Tour Review (5/13 Jacksonville, FL)

2026 Tour Review (5/13 Jacksonville, FL)

This was my second time seeing the show live, I grew up on bootlegs and the album, saw the tour on Broadway in December, and snagged lottery tickets for this tour which were sat in the Orchestra!

First off I have to say Ryan is an incredible BJ!
From the very first line to his last I was astonished by his talent. When he spoke for the first time I was very pleasantly surprised by his Beetlejuice voice, and at times it sounded nearly identical to Alex Brightman’s!
Leianna Weaver has incredible talent, and she did Karis Oka’s opt up for ‘Dead Mom’ perfectly!

The set is indeed smaller and cheaper and it was noticeable during the roof scene. When BJ sat on the roof set, it wobbled quite a bit and looked like it could topple. The ceiling is gone :( BUT everything else was just as good as the previous tour/Broadway stop! (Minus the ‘Girl Scout’ house, which was a projected backdrop onto the curtain.)

The sandworm. Sandy? Sammie? This one I’d nickname as ‘Sally’. It was smaller, but she showed up during ‘The Whole Being Dead Thing’ and dragged the funeral guest off stage. BUT during the last act BJ was not riding on top he sort of led her in with a lasso.

The effects were all great, there was fog during the opening number, Juno’s smoke effect worked well, everything was going smoothly. The only real issue I had is that the mix was very quiet for the first act.

Lastly, during the talkback session I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Adam Fields, who plays Otho and u / s for BJ and Charles, was actually born and raised in Jacksonville! I can only imagine how huge it is for him to perform on the very stage he grew up watching. Every actor in the cast has worked so hard to get where they are now and I’m very proud of them. They put on an incredible show!
