When they started asking us for 10 career runs in 7 days to clear missions, my burnout reached a peak. Yeah, I know I can speedrun a glue run with Falco to clear the mission, but it's kinda demoralizing intentionally failing a run because I want to avoid playing the game that badly.

I haven't touched my dailies the whole day, and honestly... I feel freed. No anxiety, just relief at allowing myself to not think about this game for a day. I'm probably not gonna come back until GL comes out, and I've got 80k carats, so I can roll for whatever I want almost 3x over if I ever return. I deleted the app for now, but it's still downloaded on my laptop on Steam, so I can always come back, but now my phone will stop bugging me about it. I've had fun returning to Pokemon ROMhacks recently, and it'll be nice to dedicate myself to them in the next few months.

I DO still love this franchise. I want to see Calstone Light O, Cheval Grand, Buena Vista, and others, and I even still have a Vodka statue on my desk, so I DO wanna come back someday. But I just DON'T like having this game be a daily part of my life. I don't think ANY one game can become a daily part of your life without you getting sick of it eventually.

Feels like the internet nowadays is just designed to constantly show you shit that is designed to insult you, stress you out, and make you mad, and then when your hormones react in the way the content is specifically tuned to make them react, you get called a loser for “falling for the ragebait”, as if spending your day spreading negativity and making people feel bad isn’t actual psychopath behavior by people who never developed empathy. It’s like throwing pepper in people’s faces and shaming them for sneezing.

And the worse part? When you detach yourself from mainstream culture and join a more niche community, like a gacha subreddit or a retro games sub, where you know there will only be genuine discussion and all ragebait is banned, you get called a “pussy“ for “retreating to your hugbox”. If not wanting needless stress in my life means I’m joining a hugbox, then fuck it, let the box put its arms all the way around me.
