Apologies if this is the wrong place for this question but I’d love to get some professor’s insights. I was asked to be an RA for my professor over my 1L summer, (with the assumption I’d stay on until graduation) while also doing a full time internship at a firm. She’s on the older side but still teaches, writes and travels extensively to lecture. She was giving me super interesting research assignments and I very much enjoyed providing her with edits and citations that she incorporated into published work. I was doing research, and she is an expert, in an area of law that my new school is very well know for.
However, I’m transferring and thus that relationship is ending. Is it possible to get an RA position at my new school, or will those go to the equivalent students who were top of a given professor’s class at the school I’m heading to? Even though I have no academia goals, I genuinely enjoyed working with a professor on their research. If relevant, I had a resume/undergrad school that really stood out at my very very low ranked 1L school but is run of the mill at my incoming T20. Thanks
Such is life. Thankful to have another good option lined up
Born and raised in DC and rode a single speed to Wilson hs everyday! Left for college and then my first job so I’ve been gone for almost 10 years. Moving home in about a month and am now riding and training 10-15 hours a week across road and gravel.
Never rode seriously when I was in DC so what are the best spots to do sustained intervals or climbing of any sort? I heard beach drive is closed now, not just on weekends like it used to be? Is the c&o canal or the ride to Mount Vernon a good spot for training or is it too busy? Prefer solo riding and will be starting rides from admo. Thanks!
Realistically why waitlist so many people?
Applied ED last cycle, deferred to RD, waitlisted, rejected.
Applied after first semester of 1L, deferred for full year of grades, nothing but an email asking for an update on summer employment.
Have a deposit deadline tomorrow for a school ranked basically identically to them (2 spots off) and I’m going to withdraw my application from the dream school before they reject me yet again.
No email but the portal updated this morning.
Writing a bunch of demand letters at my lit firm this summer gave me the idea that I should write strongly worded letters with thinly vailed threats of invoking a right to arbitration. Do admissions offices usually settle? Worst case they’ll give me an A once they see how good I am at citing to cases that vaguely talk about dealing in good faith, right?
Only went complete this week due a transcript snag. Zero shot I hear before the GW deposit deadline of 7/10, right?
Not a slam dunk candidate but yearn for tax, at their 509 median but from T150.
Please. I don’t want to have to explain to my uncle’s second wife (too young for him) how law school transferring works on the 4th, I just want answers.
Thankfully 1L went well (ranked top 10, 3.77 gpa on a 2.8 curve) and I’m transferring from my T150 to a T25, in large part for the big law placement. I did get 2 screeners off fall grades but zero beyond that. Know it’s going to be an uphill battle without having a 2L summer spot lined up, but how will a transfer be viewed? Should I downplay the transfer or highlight it? Went to an Ivy undergrad but finished with a trash gpa which led to me going to a low ranked school if that’s relevant.
-Would like to do corporate structuring work, or tax, long term.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Almost 25/70 kids in my section, including some who didn’t have it last semester, and did very well, now do. How concerned about a gpa hit should I be? Desperately trying to lock in a high gpa for transferring and 10 more people getting it has me concerned. Civpro today was very much designed to be a time scramble and having even 10 more minutes would have been so many more points. Know this is a touchy subject and I generally have no issue with people getting extra time, just trying to pragmatically predict if this will take my 3.8 to a 3.4 assuming everything in my control stays consistent.
