Basically the prototype models that aren't fully human looking but slowly but surely are getting there with each iteration becoming more penny like

Would some resent here see her as the younger sister that must be protected or is it the other way around where penny feels like she has to protect them

I like to think he has a large paladin that she calls her little brother that was originally made to be her body guard when she didn't have proper weapons systems yet named # or pound

Team RWBY

Ruby Rose

- I'm not actually sure maybe a plot centering around her looking at an old year book she found in her dorm that belonged to summer which eventually would lead to a secret she hid in the school

Ruby goes around the academy roping her team into helping and eventually they find the place and what was left behind was an old scrapbook of team STRQ and there adventures together at beacon

Weiss Schnee

- have her go through a humbling arc so to speak like maybe she's having a hard time befriending pyrrha because she still tends to look down on others like most atlesian elites it makes pyrrha uncomfortable because it reminds Pyrrha of her old fake friends

Weiss eventually learns to loosen up and her and pyrrha end up bonding together

Blake Belladonna

-no idea

Yang Xiao-Long

- make her an underground fight ring fighter have her know junior through that and have yang need to go through a tournament to get her info on the white fang

Team JNPR

Jaune Arc

-so we all know that giant statue with a sword in beacon have that guy be related to jaune maybe his dad or great grandfather and it's small arc where pyrrha is wondering what exactly have the arcs done in history

-another idea while team rwby is dealing with the white fang have team JNPR the team with the most mistrali characters dealing with spider who in my rewrite have been hired to take over the Valean underworld by cinder

Nora Valkyrie

-have Nora get her who am I without Ren moment here or atleast let the girl go through an arc at discovering new things and enjoying them have her be the one who's excitable and feeling free to not worry about her next meal

Pyrrha Nikos

-pull a Komi can't communicate and have her go through an arc where jaune helps her befriend other people have her go to a gun range with ruby, meditating with Ren, sparring with yang

-girls night have pyrrha get invited by coco on a girl's night with velvet and team rwby I just want this girl having the life she's always wanted

-actually show her training jaune have her and jaune spending time alone together on the roof maybe have pyrrha even finding herself training jaune more enjoyable than any of her tournament matches because it makes her feel fulfilled whenever jaune lands a hit on her when he manages to dodge one of her moves when he starts becoming more and more on her level because she's not getting any scorn not being looked at with envy or disdain instead she gets someone who's eager to fight with her to listen to her to actually spend time with her

Lie Ren

-Have Ren go through an arc of needing to learn to feel safe he's arguably been the one who was messed up about the loss of kuroyuri and his parents so why not show it show Ren be a bit jumpy and reserved show him mostly sticking around Nora

I want Ren to slowly start to see beacon as the first permanent thing he and Nora have gotten the first place they can call home after being on the streets for so long

Okay only going for my backstory for them for now as I still haven't gotten to reconfiguring Vol 1 to 3

But here we go

Rory Worthington was a son of one of the remaining noble houses of vale and his family was the one who started the Mount Glenn expansion using the land they had owned when previously a viscount to the Valean nobility that took utmost 20 years of funding with Rory himself being someone who grew up in the mountain himself

While being groomed to take over as head of the family Roman himself was also training to become a Huntsman wanting to help defend the pride of his family personally and ended up being accepted into beacon as part of team ROMN (Roman)

Though he wasn't always an honest student having become friendly with Hei Xiong the leader of a small time gang that worked under the Xiong family Roman knew if he played his card right he could make some decent connections for when he becomes the head of the Worthingtons

as while his family were huntsman they where businessman often equated to the Gelé family in atlas for how cutthroat they were with them having accepted some seedier deals to get the atlesian tech they needed to secure the mountain aswell as helping fund dr merlot who was working on technology that could help keep grimm from going near the developing settlement

But not everything would go as planned as the year of disasters would come into play and Mount glenn would fall during Rory's 3rd year at beacon and despite being warned he'd face penalties if he tries leaving for the city he and his team got to the Mountain itself and did there best to help with the evacuations Rory trying and failing to get to his family estate in time only to find it in ruins overtaken by grimm far more powerful than anything he's faced

He'd eventually send one of his teammates out of the mountain to get more help when things were turning for the worst and oobleck was always reliable in getting reinforcements

But those reinforcements never arrived instead as the grimm horde grew stronger and stronger starting to overtake the city and outnumber the Huntsman who came there ignoring orders from the council

The entrances were sealed thousands dead or dying and the Worthington family legacy in shambles as Rory and oobleck were the only survivors of team ROMN

With nothing but his name as everything his family was worth had been destroyed alongside the mountain Roman had ended up resorting to crime

He knew where to hit he knew which families had what and knew where to sell them when he got in contact with his friend Hei who had taken over the Xiong Family when his father passed

Rory now calling himself Roman Torchwick started building up his reign of crime across vale as the Vale PD could rarely match up to someone with Huntsmen training

And even with his deeds he always made sure to keep himself from crossing the line and getting on the radar of Wardens the Huntsman who work for the council and go after rogue Huntsman

Eventually his own reputation would end up skyrocketing becoming this figure that no one in her Valean underworld would mess with as it just wasn't worth it as either they kill him but use up too much expenses they go under or they fail and they got him gunning for them

And that's about all I've got written for Roman not sure yet how he meets neo but the two do end up meeting and becoming partners

Neopolitan

Trivia Vanille was a faunus born to Jimmy Vanille and a maid of his she was one of several kids the Vanille crime family had with

Everyone in the family was judged there by there use something they excelled at either there natural beauty or natural intelligence you needed something to make you stand out in a good way to be given praise in the family

Of course neo stood out in a bad way being a faunus having two colored eyes and mute things were bad for her from the get go with her father seeing her d as practically worthless and only kept her around to see if she'd eventually show promise and arranged for her to become a Huntsman so the family had a personal huntsman loyal to them with Carmel Vanille sending her off to her old boarding school of lady Browning's hoping to get something from her husband's bastard

Evidently nothing would come from the Vanille family's plans as the whole family would go bite the dust during the fall of Mount glenn with the exception of Trivia who was in Lady Browning's at the time

Trivia would end up being trained as a personal assassin of the academy seeing her semblance as the perfect one for an assassin and spy to have but the one thing they couldn't train into her was obedience they could never get the girl to stay loyal to them no matter what they did to punish or break her

That's all I've gotten for neo so far and haven't quite figured out the specifics for either her and Roman's relationship as I'm leaning towards either lovers or father daughter

Or maybe more like weird niece and uncle relationship between the two not sure yet

So everyone knows that Remnant has the 4 kingdoms right

the only ones who managed to survive during the great war with menagerie trying to make itself into the new 5th kingdom

But I feel like there should've been more

So here's how I atleast set up sub kingdoms in my au

Vale

Was once a coalition of 25 different kingdoms who marched under the banner of King ozymandias the 1st uniting the kingdom under his rule and eventually leads into the Seven States of Vale

These 7 States are all sub kingdoms in there own right able to exist on there own but had sworn there fealty to the council and the crown

Avalon — The Capital

British/English inspired. Avalon is the current capital of Vale and the home of the High Council which was formed after the previous capital was destroyed during the Great War It serves as the kingdom’s political and economic center handling international companies trade and kingdom-wide laws that all seven settlements must follow It has the second-largest militia and follows the Crown Its culture is inspired by Britain and England particularly its monarchy government and Arthurian traditions

Ansel — The Frontier

French inspired Ansel is a coastal frontier settlement bordering the sea route to Mistral and serves as Vale’s main defense against Mistralean invasions It was the last border settlement to survive the Great War and is one of the few places where noble houses still exist When King Ozymandias IV abolished the nobility, the frontier was still being devastated by Grimm, which had destroyed three major houses, including the ruling family, so House Arc was placed in charge and has ruled ever since. Its nobles have little authority outside Ansel and are mostly viewed as old money, while the settlement is known for protecting Mistralean trade routes, producing elite knight orders, and sending its children into the Huntsman or military professions. It also preserves Old Valean (Latin) and High Valean (French) and follows the Rusted One.

Ironmound — The Mining Settlement

Ironmound is a mountainous settlement responsible for mining most of Vale’s raw materials, including stone, metals, and Dust. Its mines supply the resources needed by the other settlements and its culture is built around miners craftsmen and isolated mountain communities It follows the Mason and I might have ti draw from Welsh mountain and mining culture

Greengrove — The Farming Region

Irish inspired Greengrove is a coalition of farming settlements responsible for most of Vale’s food production including crops livestock and dairy with Patch being one of its member settlements It is largely made up of rural communities and is known for its green countryside farms and close-knit villages It follows the Maiden and is inspired by Irish agricultural and pastoral culture

Bulwark — The Military Settlement

Scottish inspired Bulwark is a military settlement located in one of Vale’s most Grimm-infested regions and is where much of the Valean military operates It has the largest militia of the seven settlements and attracts Huntsmen looking for dangerous but profitable work while also protecting the other settlements from Grimm It follows the Hunter and has a small nearby royal stronghold where the royal family secretly spends much of their time under false names its culture draws from Scotland particularly its rugged Highlands, warrior traditions clans and fortresses

Silverport — The Great Seaport

Silverport is Vale’s largest seaport surpassing even Ansel and serves as the kingdom’s main source of fresh fish and seafood. It is home to much of Vale’s navy, which protects the coast from Sea Grimm and supports Huntsmen fighting dangerous Grimm at sea. It is also a major center for maritime trade and fishing and follows the Fisher Its culture I'm considering having it be inspired by Cornwall and other coastal British communities, particularly their fishing traditions and Celtic heritage

Ferrous — The Industrial Capital

Industrial Northern English inspired. Ferrous is the center of Vale’s metalworking and industrial production, handling everything from iron, pipes, and rebar to weapons and machinery It was responsible for developing the Mecha-Shift weaponry now commonly used by Huntsmen and remains one of the kingdom’s major technological centers It follows the Blacksmith and draws inspiration from Northern England and its Industrial Revolution-era cities particularly their steelworking engineering and manufacturing traditions

Mistral

has similar history to Vale but unlike how king ozymandias United vale through diplomatic routes mistral itself conquered every sub kingdoms including Kuo Kuana once they had allied themselves with mantle

Nowadays mistral is split between 4 major sub kingdoms

Skjoldheim — or Northern mistral once a mantle settlement that seceded during the great war keeps much if the old mantillan culture based on Nordic myths much of the land is rough and hard to live in the people there being seen as barbaric compared to the other sub kingdoms but no move has been made l take over there territory as they keep the more powerful grimm at bay

Hellenia — Western Mistral is the second largest territory within mistral in comparison to what central governs and draws heavily from Greco Roman city states with Argus being its main connection to Atlas

Had been one of the original sub kingdoms who revolted against mistral to try and regain there independence from the Jade emperor

Longjing — where mistral gains most of there advanced aura users they're renowned for with different sects and noble houses who send there best to haven Academy to learn and show off

Based more on Wuxia novels in terms of culture

Mistral — Central Mistral

Is the one who keeps the subkingdoms under control and where the council sit with the council being made up of 4 representatives from each state with central mistral having the headmaster of haven Academy be the tie breaker in each meeting

Based on japan with them having a budding anime and manga community with titles such as ninjas of love becoming popular outside of mistral

Menagerie — a Sub Kingdoms of Mistral that seceded during the faunus rights revolution and became the capital city for the faunus

Note this list of kingdoms don't include the various tribes of anima

I don't actually have an inspiration to draw from other than kitbashing some things I liked from other media I've consumed but I'll discuss that in another post

I could add more but I'm unsure of what to actually add for Mistral would love to hear everyone's thoughts

Vacuo

Other than shade Academy vacuo has the most sub kingdoms of all the 4 kingdoms but most of these kingdoms have a tendency to have warlords hodl a territory and try to make it there own kingdoms but due to varying factors such as grimm rival warlords or lack of resources these tend to fail with shade Academy and villages who pledge fealty to it being ones that have lasted longer then most

Has only two actual subkingdoms that aren't settlements

Atlas — the shining star of technology is seen as the wonder of atlas and has been the tech giant between the 4 kingdoms I'm not sure yet for culture but I'm leaning towards Slavic and or Korea as inspiration

Mantle — the slums Mantle the former capital of the once great kingdom is nothing but a mess of poverty that the elites of atlas use to get richer and richer

The two sub kingdoms I'm planning to have a Zaun and piltover relationship towards one another

Okay we all know the Huntsman are a bit underdeveloped so here is how I'll do it

Also to clarify armies still exist in my au so they're kept in mind in my writing

Training

The standard training for all kingdoms are those who attend combats schools the top 10 to 20 students usually being given the chance to try out for one of the 4 Academies while the rest are offered roles within the kingdoms militaries

The secondary route is through apprenticeships to forego combat schools and be given a letter of recommendation by a recognized Huntsmen the most famous of which has been the Ayana Clan in mistral or House Arc in Vale

After which they can Either continue there training under the Huntsman and try out getting there license through a specialized exam handled by the huntsmaster of the Academy of the kingdom they live in or try to join one of the 4 Academies

Roles

There roles within the four kingdoms while being the same have some differences in treatment

Vale

-specialised teams who wander the continent and act more or less like DND parties working alongside whatever militia or military

-most take on mission request given by different Huntsman agencies in vale think of them like guilds or the hero agencies from MHA

-of course when dealing with a kingdom level threat all huntsman fall under the command of the huntsmaster of beacon who is the top Hunter in all of vale

- the alternative route most Huntsman go through is apprenticeship similar to old knight and squire relationships

-well known for there mechashift hunters with the mechashift being first made in vale with the introduction of a shield scabbard

Mistral

-is the more varied treatment of its huntsman due to the kingdom itself being somewhat divided

-in Central Mistral there the personal guard of the council expected to defend the capital against threats such as the branwen tribe and other bandit tribes

-in Eastern there treated more rigorously and seen more as folk heroes and are embedded with the local militia helping off and on the battlefield

-in Northern they're seen as forces of nature most of the time coming and going hunting whatever grimm passes by them

-in Western there treated more heroes in the Greek sense with one huntsman being a turning point in a battle due to this they place alot of importance on the individual and leads to a culture where solo hunters are the norm to see and expected with teams being seen as a bad omen a sign of hard times

-the alternative training route unique to mistral is the sects in Eastern mistral specialised orders and groups who build there philosophy and fighting under the teachings of there elders the elite students of these sects are sent to haven to show off the superiority making mistral well known for there use of aura techniques

-mistral is also known for having the highest rate of rogue Huntsman

Atlas

-the Huntsmen have been more and more integrated within there military corps being sent as elite strike teams sent into high priority missions and given high ranking roles within the military

-due to the harsh climate of solitas they're the only kingdom who does conscriptions with most of the candidates being the best from the candidates

-has only recently accepted faunus to join the academy as Huntsmen due to general ironwood mostly as a way to remove promising individuals from joining the white fang

-well known for there dust based weaponry with most of there weapons using dust in some way

Vacuo

-is the one that's more similar to canon with shade Academy being the only real form of government in vacuo with various settlements and tribes warring amongst each other outside of it

-huntsman are the more controllable and more loyal members to shade Academy who follow the Huntsmaster to lead vacuo to brighter days

-shade does not have a standing army due to chances for corruption or mutiny

-well known for having huntsman with thicker auras due to harsher grimm

Special roles for huntsman or people who have there aura unlocked

Huntsman

Archivist

-a specialized Huntsman who spend most of there time in field research going through ruins and lost cities to uncover most of the history they could've forgotten

-known characters who are Archivists is professor oobleck

Wardens

-specialised huntsman whose main job is to be sent after rogue Huntsman who've used there skills and training for crime

-there the inquisitors for huntsman so to speak

-one large stain in there history was during the great tragedies where over 40 wardens were sent after the branwen tribe and had all been killed

Specialist

- specific term for atlas huntsman with the Ace Ops being the best of the best in terms of specialistz

Aura Users

Messenger

-aura users who have bare minimum training when it comes to a fight and spend there time traveling between the settlements to deliver letters and messages and are often used by poorer villages who can't afford a cct station and most of the time messengers are what happens to students who don't end up making the cut in academy initiations as an alternative

-known characters who are Messengers deery from the white fang one of the white fangs safest methods of communication with there messengers being considered one of the best in the business as not only as faunus they can continue the journey at night

They are also most of the time as combat trained as a 2nd year huntsman student

Way Finders

-aura users who go hand in hand with messengers

-there main job is to map out safer routes between villages scouting out where an area could be safe to build aswell as being the first to learn of incoming grimm

-always found with a compass on them and have a personal database system being the ones who help make the maps the 4 kingdoms use

Okay so everyone knows about semblances and aura already but I'd like to ask how you guy's can do stuff like seal it and junk

For sealing it's a specific technique thats been passed down for certain clans in mistral with different techniques of varying degrees

Most commonly used on criminals that can't be coerced into working as soldiers for reduced sentences or to make mass killers less dangerous

Mercury is a well known example but tyrian is also another so mercury has his semblance dangled infront of him for his service

For aura sealing now that's a whole different technique and runs certain risks when you try forcing down your soul with the chances of the person losing there emotional state

Most techniques are rare nowadays and more likely than not can lead to destroying the aura completely instead of simply sealing it

Ozpin has the perfected version and had sealed the auras of plenty of people in the past

The aura transfer machine

The principles behind it are based off Pietro polendina's semblance where for Pietro's case imagine a camp fire always burning

What you do to make two campfires is to take some burning logs of the first fire to make the second

It lowers the fire capacity of the first but doubles the fires you have

The machine itself was made commissioned for ozma with project penny originally being a prototype into making ozpin a permanent body something that ironwood kept a secret for a while not wanting to give his old friend false hope

In any case the plan was to see if the aura transfer could take the soul of amber and place it in pyrrha

If it succeeded ironwood would've asked ozpin if he'd like a new body

And lastly semblance evolution

For this one I had it that everyone was somewhat weakened in the first 3 volumes

Ruby - could go through short bursts of speed dashing from one place to another and eventually it evolves into the semblance we all know

Weiss - starts off with glyphs and then evolves into summons have her using Glyphs against people and summons against grimm

Blake - starts off with the simple Shadow clones and evolves into the dust based ones that can attack each clone can do one attack

Yang - any energy she absorbs she immediately sends it back it would later evolve into her being able to hold more energy and even fueling her aura

That's all I got for now would love to see everyone's thoughts on it

Suffice to say what I mean with this is if you write the story with these as the baseline rules

The pov per episode or chapter alternates between team RWBY and team JNPR

Like say the yellow trailer ending than transitioning into jaune walking into the bar and asking for junior for fake transcripts in exchange for repairing the bar

What I'd do with this is try to establish different plots for the characters that inevitably interconnect

RWBY is dealing with the white fang since they're connected to Blake

While JNPR is dealing with spider since they're connected to Nora and Ren in my au

This would help flesh out the characters more and have them feel like teams instead of just being jaune's group

Hell we could go a step further and alternate by team members

First 4 episodes focus on one member of Rwby and the next four focus on one member of jnpr

Each episode could also parallel the differences between the characters and help further established what there personality is

And could've left to dozens of fun plots

Like pyrrha learning to befriend the rest of jnpr and also team rwby

Weiss needing to learn status isn't everything

Like have them earn the found family status

That's all I've got for now would love to hesr other's thoughts on this

Heiress to Clan Khan one of the last faunus clans that still fought for there independence ferociously against mistral alongside clan Taurus in Vacuo being considered royalty amongst the faunus and were the former rulers of a kingdom that was once in southern mistral before it was destroyed during the great war when mistral was burning through resources into here fight against vale and wanted no part of anima not under there control

The Khan's have ties to many faunus based groups with Sienna's brother being a high ranking member of the faunus church

She was raised her whole life to fight for the good of her people to not back down or give up there culture and was one of the major supporters of the Golden Lion and the white fang at the time

Around the time that she got her own forces she managed to rally under her name people who were once loyal to the Khan dynasty under her father Shere Khan

She would inevitably meet and Ally herself with Ghira during a raid on an atlesian base in argus and would consistently be allied together during the duration of the war

Where Ghira was the more defensive tactician Sienna was the more offensive one

Where Ghira was looking through his plans to ensure his people could be safe

Sienna was making plans to make as much damage as she could that would last in a long run

Together they managed to be an effective duo when put to hte task with sienna being sent to the frontlines managing guerrilla fights while ghira was sent on rescue missions freeing slaves and defending there base

One difference between the two was ghira was afraid of being seen as a monster while sienna was all for it she wanted to show just how vicious the faunus could get

And when 4 rising heroes in the conflict finally managed to broker a peace sienna repurposed herself in being more of a defender going out to offer aid in the form of defense against the grimm that were drawn due to the revolution and a slow love between ghira that would result in a marriage to both maintain the Khan's control over menagerie there ancestral home aswell as having the aid of the white fang to maintain peace between the thousands of faunus that were dumped on them making menagerie more crowded as they exceeded the amount of people they can house when they haven't gotten started on rebuilding efforts

They'd be around 2 years in when kuo kuana was remade and turned defensible against the grimm hordes aswell as when sienna would find herself pregnant

She and ghira would find themselves feeling like they'd be about to succeed in making a world safe for there child

But all good things come to an end

When the defenses supplied by atlas would suddenly malfunction every turret every electrified wallet or keep the grimm away turning off and causing a massacre with a fourth of the population being killed

And grimm storming there home and finding there daughter gone grimm havign torn at the walls and her crib destroyed as both ghira and sienna assumed the worst

It would break them both with Ghira as said in my last post focusing on keeping what they have left safe while sienna tried her best to stay rational

But when she'd find a mining town ravaged by grimm and finding a poor boy with a brand over his eye something about her snaps

And she turns her grief out into the world itself to show them what monsters they made them to be turning the white fang into what it became in the show

With her relationship with Ghira breaking when he tried to tell her that this won't get them what they want

That's about all I've got for her planned out

Other minor characterization

Her tattoos are considered royal markings in the Khan dynasty a symbol of her claim as a Khan

The grimm masks were something she refused to wear but didn't outright ban as some faunus had started wearing them to cover scars that were put on them by humans

Okay so in my rewrite his last name wouldn't be Belladonna I just don't have a name at the moment right change something involving Blake whatever fits

But he grew up in the slums of Argus at the tail end of the great war 19 helping his fellow faunus jsut survive the rebuilding but could see first hand his people being forced to work more then there fair share pushed to the brink until they couldn't give enough

The white fang would start during the first embers of the faunus rights revolution when all of remnant would hear the Golden lion's roar calling for all faunus to stand up against the oppression they faced where ghira and his band of faunus were more like robin hood and his merry band helping out with grimm and fighting against more tyrannical village leaders that discriminated against the faunus and started being more active in guerrilla fighting when mantle started bringing in heavy fire against them

Ghira's main strength during the revolution was the way he could bring others together who valued and preached for the unity of there people and found allies where he could from the prideful Clan Khan with there heir Sienna khan joining his call to even sympathetic humans like House Vulcan a mistral based smithing family who were renowned for there weapons that helped turned the tides of the Hellenic states against mistral during the revolution

Eventually it would all come to head at the last great battle at Fort Castle an Argian base that served as the main headquarters of the white fang where Ghira had fought a young general ironwood who had inevitably traumatized ghira during the fight where despite Ghira having torn off his arm and his body bloody ironwood kept going at him like a man possesed with the single minded need to protect his own

Ghira would send ironwood off with the rest of the prisoners back to the humans but that single sight would trouble him for years to come

Eventually the 4 kingdoms would reach an agreement and the Lionheart Treaty would be signed named after the man who had started the revolution

They were given Southern mistral as there new home a large overgrown land that while lush and plentiful was teaming with grimm that even mistral thought it wasn't worth the cost to expand in

Eventually Ghira and Sienna became the new leaders of the Island nation the white fang being the largest group amongst the factions that were forced to move there and could maintain true stability while they carved there new home

Eventually Ghira and Sienna would fall for one and another and through there Union Blake Belladonna would be born and ghira would make the white fang into a more peaceful group wanting his daughter to be raised in a world that didn't have bloodshed wanting her to never need to go through what he did

But not everything would gain a happy ending

Eventually a large grimm wave attacks the island getting past a wall gifted to them by Atlas that had seemingly malfunctioned just as the wave hit nothing from the guns to the dust shields worked on it

After losing a a fifth of here population ghira and sienna would find there home attacked marks that seemed like grimm all over the manor and there daughter gone

The disappearance would break the young couple

With Ghira having lost all the will to focus on the movement focusing on rebuilding there home

While sienna became more violent and vengeful seeing the failing wall as a sign of humans wanting them dead

Eventually they'd hardly see eachother anymore with sienna moving to Fort Castle after taking over from ghira and a quiet understanding that they couldn't stay together not when they keep getting reminded of what they lost

And Ghira would grow to do more to turn menagerie into a thriving home and eventually find love in a woman named Kali and eventually gain a son

He'd move to focusing on just menagerie wanting to keep the only good thing he has left safe and dissuade the faunus church and the white fang cell led by Sienna's brother in line and ensure they won't try to radicalize the people of menagerie to start another war with humanity

That's about all I got

Some notes about his design he dresses in a way to make himself more Puma like since his faunus trait is retractable claws and wants to take pride in him being a faunus

He wears boots based on Puma legs and his fur coat is lined in ice dust to keep him cool as he was born and raised in the cold of argus and can't always stand the heat of menagerie's sun

For now I have a few tribes in mind though in my rewrite all of them are long since dead

The sky pirates more of s bandit group than a tribe the sky pirates are a feared group that grew in power during the great war stealing airships and bullheads and being a nuisance to both sides of the war but are sometimes seen as heroes by Western mistral for being the deciding factor during the mantle civil war

Scarlet David was the heir to the tribe an adopted Street kid who ran a gang known as the lost Boys and was adopted by captain hook

Unfortunately they ran afoul of the branwen tribe and with the tribe leader raven bringing the pain the sky pirates were eventually shattered with most of there forces arrested by the Mistralean government

They were followers of Favonius the mistrali god of wind and sky

when not being pirates most followers fo Favonius are free spirits who hate being tied down to one place just like most tribes in anima

They survive against grimm by spending time in the element of there god up in the clouds in ships or mountain ranges

The second group I don't have a name yet but I'm basing them off the Covey from the hunger games who are apparently based on the romani people

There a tribe of entertainers and wanderers a nomadic tribes who hailed from no kingdom

The largest of there groups was the one that Dove Branwen belonged to before she gave herself to Rook Branwen to keep her people safe from the branwen tribe but he went back on his word and slaughtered them with remnants of the tribe still existing in mistral

They were slaughtered for one reason

The grimm could hardly sense them

Similar to the kuroyuri Rangers they can keep grimm away by there very presence

But unlike the Rangers who can mask there emotions from the grimm the tribe could keep people's spirits up and there own presence was enough to keep a village hidden from grimm and only ever asked for food and shelter

There followers of the goddess of music and revelry Hesperia who live to entertain and bring people up and party till the day they die having some basis in the cult of Dionysus

The third are the Kuroyuri Rangers

From the villages of oniyuri and kuroyuri they were settlements who refused to live under the criminal hellscape that was mistral and to protect themselves Huntsman and soldiers alike banded together under Li Ren a huntsman and descendant of Hua Ren a famous soldier who saved the Jade emperor from the branwen tribe and drove the tribe away from mistral and stopped there conquest

The Rangers prided themselves on being part of a sect who practice aura techniques that keep here Rangers emotionless and able to hunt grimm without being noticed

They were crippled by a branwen raid that led to the Rangers being weakened when the nuckelavee arrived wiping out the settlements

Jaune - Fun

Reason: honestly he's my favorite character so it's to be expected but mostly because there's a lot of potential you can do from just using what canon already gave us and expanding on it more

Rewrite: for mine i have him and ruby to be parallels together both for them reflecting in the other

Where ruby is specialised in her fighting style jaune tends to end up being an all rounder

Where ruby thinks out a plan beforehand jaune makes one up on the fly

Where Ruby's lacking in social skills jaune is great at them as a reference to Joan of arc being well connected to the lower class at the time

I'd expand more on some of the traits jaune had in vol 1 like him coming from a warrior family but not being trained is due to his dad who he resembled the most out of all his siblings died at Mount glenn so his grandfather kept jaune from learning other than military work try and sate jaune's desire for being a hunter like his father

For the fake transcripts he ended up working at Junior's bar repairing it after yang tore the place up and fixed it up that he got paid in return sends till works there from time to time

As for the main storyline in vol 1-3 I'm connecting him with Amber the former fall maiden she's his sister he came there to beacon to look for her after she stopped sending messages when she was supposed to meet up with him so she can get him into beacon

And while team rwby is busy dealing with he white fang team jnpr is dealing with spider as I'm having the beacon plot to be a more large scale plan on cinder's side of things with her bringing in 4 major factions into Vale to keep the ozluminati distracted

Blake -struggle

Reason - Why just why did they have to give you two different backstories and hardly anything that resembles beauty and the beast other than your love of books Adam has a better connection to his secondary allusion of the wilted rose over you with your not even being interested in the world beyond you like belle was

She's connected to one of the plots in genuinely having a hard time rewriting as all the characters involved require more nuance and the fact that beauty and the beast was my favorite Disney movie both animated and live action is the only reason I haven't decided to reduce your role

Rewrite: as I've wrote before I'm keeping both backstories

Ghira and sienna are her parents but when she was a baby she was kidnapped and ended up being adopted when she was left to die in the colds of mantle

She'd get taken in by a local inventor as she spent most of her time reading at the local bookstore the owner being kind to her whenever she was there not caring for her being a faunus like everyone else in the village apart from her adoptive father

She'd grow to love stories that were about traveling to the other kingdoms seeing the world and would've wanted to grow up to be a huntsman and be a hero like the rusted knight

Eventually her village would be attacked by grimm the local militia taking the human citizens out first leaving the faunus behind her father wanting to stay with her but she told him to go ahead unsure of his poor health

But when no one came back Blake and the rest of the faunus were forced to defend themselves for days wondering what they did to deserve this fate until Adam and his branch of the fang to arrive

Mostly she'd be dealing with imposter syndrome like jaune she came to beacon under the fake name of Blake Belladonna and had been slowly but surely growing to love it wanting to just stay as Blake and get rid of her old life to just be happy that she was getting her old dream

I kinda want her and jaune to bond a lot over there feelings of being imposters and that they both knew the other was a fake since they were both there getting there fake papers at Junior's bar and just decided not to snitch other than studying together once in a while when both need to decompress

That's all I got for the characters with the most effort I've put in there's a more in-depth post for each of them on my profile

So far in my world building I've decided on 4 confirmed gods with more to come if I decide to

Mother Goose or the tree

-in my au she's the first God who's domain encompassed everything with every story she writes creating a new being or god that would take one of her domains

When she first made a creation it led to the creation of the brothers through her first act of creation and first act of discarding a creation

Mother Goose herself is the god of renewal the only concept she seemed as hers and the brothers cannot claim

What this means is her entire schtick is to take the stories or world's her children makes and rebuilds them into brand new creations everything in the ever after is her story book and while she likes seeing cycles events that repeat albeit with different characters she still tends to try new things

Mikhail - God of Light

Was the first to be born and his birth was greeted by billions of stars appearing him his mother's blank canvas

Was proclaimed as the god of creation order light and knowledge

He's a perfectionist at heart whenever he's building crafting just creating in general everything must be in place must be in order

Every world he's made has been an experiment something he uses to test out a new idea of his before it eventually gets destroyed by his younger sibling

Eventually this would give birth to what he considers his first masterpiece a world that was his and his alone and created beings in his image he would name spirits little creatures and things that would have connections to domains he held as well as his mother

The oldest of these spirits are creation and knowledge his children and the only ones from his hundreds of attempts he considers successes finding them near perfection while the rest he considered failures

Eventually his sibling would arrive and claim his own place creating vile disgusting creatures that Mikhail saw as a mockery to his creations and would start another argument between him and and his siblings that would be considered a near holy war with spirits and grimm battling one another in the name of there makers

Until two such creatures would refuse the orders of battle of warfare

A spirit of love named Adamos

And a grimm named Lilim

Lilim was a creature of grimm made of destruction and chaos

Yet it seemed to have learned from watching Adamos who refused to fight her to kill her like his kin had done to hers in this war

Eventually these two would fall in love and give birth to what is now known as humanity the first race that held all aspects of the gods

Mikhail was intrigued by these beings

Ciara/Kieran - God/Goddess of darkness chaos choice and destruction

They were made from the first act of destruction where the once fully dark sky was flooded with light it would destroy the concept of complete and total nothingness being born alongside there brother as a being of chaos Ciara was known to switch from male to female and anything inbetween only keeping the title Dark as it is one of there domains

The curious thing due to its nature didn't like adhering to its other titles all the time longing to create like there brother gaining there destructive said from there jealousy towards mikhails creations destroying them and the scraps going to there mother to recreate always feeling the urge to destroy what there brother creates

Eventually they manage a crude mimicry of there brother's creations they would name grimm these beings are an extension of them carrying out it's natural tendencies of chaos and destruction

Eventually they'd notice there sibling disappear and find remnant making there place there and a place for there knew creation grimm

But there brother would get mad at having the place he calls his own disturbed by his younger sibling who wanted to spend time with him who envies his works and it would start another one of there battles until

Adamos and lilim

Kieran was ecstatic the first thing made from them that wasn't mindless or destructive

that eventually he and his sibling would set rules a deal that they would rule this world together one governed by both that follows set rules has a sense of order within everything

But can be as chaotic as anything his sibling represents

And for a time these two would rule there world together and darkness would create two spirits one made purely from its destructive domain the other made from its choice domainf

I'm still fleshing out what happens during the lost fable but Salem is still made immortal and ozpin light's champion

However in this one light and dark would make a game of it

Salem would represent as dark's unknowing champion while ozma light's knowing champion

With 3 outcomes for the game of there's

Light's victory

A world that goes back to being fully ruled by light and dark being casted out of the world a world made entirely of order with no hint of dark's influence

Dark's victory

A world of chaos with no order never ending destruction and choices that could do anything and everything with no laws and no annoying light

Humanity's victory

A world that has the influences of both that fully embody what humanity is a combination of light and dark

Faunus

-one of many younger siblings the gods have from mother goose who snuck into remnant and created the faunus feeling sorry for the abandoned people

-was punished by light for overstepping in there boundaries and creating vile abominations

-was put in time out able to hear every pained cry its creations feel to learn to never mess with light's things

- while light was pissy about having his things messed with dark cares not much as all there creations can hardly do anything and would be delighted to see someone turn there grimm into something else than grimm and why she was more positive to the sight of humans and held a soft spot for them enough to break the rules they and Mikhail agreed to and angered that a human would trick them and use there love for humanity to go against there brother

-salem is who the church of faunus believe to be the goddess for faunus

Spirits

- a ton more of them in my au where there are 4 more spirits trapped in artifacts that can grant a power boost but aren't as overpowered as the relics

Except for a deck of cards that someone finds

For me if I do decide to write him I'm gonna lean into a bit more on the little prince aesthetic

For the little prince I had Oscar want to be part of Vale Air defense having been doing his best to try and get into training but he couldn't make the cut physically due to having a more frail body and due to living in an area that's relatively safe with a border patrol of Huntsman and soldiers his family never considered unblocking his aura especially after his parents died his dad was a pilot who always took Oscar flying while his mother was a huntress

He spent most of his time in the skies flying an old crop duster in the family farm and typically always the first person you'd get to talk things down or be heroic

He'd be mostly the team pilot being the one who's sent behind the wheel and basically being a stunt pilot at times with how he flies escaping grimm

When the ozpin jacking happens he's scared at first but he's never been in to shy away from a fight so packing his things as his family were getting ready to up and leave vale after the fall of beacon Oscar would say he got accepted on a scholarship to sanctum Academy in mistral so he'll have a roof over his head and his family would have one less mouth to feed while they do there best to get situated at home

That's the extent to what I had planned out but for some other stuff

His aura gets unlocked by jaune not ozpin

On his travels ozpin teaches him how to make basic rune magic while Oscar's body adapts to the magic of ozma's soul

Think owl house or witch hat Atelier in how it works

Oscar's main weapons during his travel there is a decent combat shovel and an old rifle his aunt could spare for him to use

Genuinely I kinda want him and jaune to bind a bit as two of the people in my au who both feel like here unprepared for all of this

And jaune is the first to apologize to him after being the first to crash out

He and ruby I'm debating on making him a former classmate of Ruby's in signal but not sure yet

What I also think could be a fun character quirk is he's a bit of a dumbass like eat a random Berry he found on the ground kind of dumbass hero of Hyrule style

Like hes great at emotional stuff being able to help talk people through there emotions or feelings

But would genuinely try roasting bark if hungry enough

Though I might give that to a member of team crdl

Another quirk is to make him very much into learning anything and everything a trait he and jaune share

But while jaune's was mostly out of his desire to improve more to be the kind of Huntsman he wants to be

Oscar was more so just wanting to learn

It's mostly why jinn gains a liking to oscar

Vacuo

The Sun King and the Moon Mother

The Sun King was said to be the first king of vacuo who waged a war against the moon mother creator of the grimm

As the sun king wrought down his fury upon the grimm every dawn mother Moon would send her horde every night

The battle was said to last so long but afterwards the moon would shatter marking her defeat

Since then a common saying in vacuo is to not fear the shattered Moon

As while the grimm still roam they the Sun still returns in its glory as the moon appears in its tattered broken form

I have it serve as a rememberance for vacuoans being known to never let anything tell them what to do that so long as they got the power they can be strong enough to shatter the moon

Vale

Vale had the seven

Seven saints figures that gained prominence during the great war one that lasted a near 300 years

The Crown

It is said that the Crown of Vale shall always bring prosperity to the kingdom and that every king who wore the Crown upon their head would ensure that Vale endured

The tale begins with King Ozymandias the First who is remembered as the first true king of Vale after uniting the kingdom under House Argent a family known for their silver eyes

When the settlements of Vale finally swore allegiance to Ozymandias the Crown was placed upon his head and was said to have been blessed with the prosperity of the kingdom

From then onward every ruler who wore the Crown was believed to carry the fate of Vale upon their head

The Crown itself eventually became a deified figure with its imagery appearing throughout Vale

The Crown is usually depicted as a silver crown floating above the kingdom or resting upon the head of a ruler

Its lesson is that a ruler does not own the kingdom but carries the responsibility of protecting it

A common saying is

May the Crown bear us as we bear it

The Rusted One

The tale of the Rusted One tells of a knight who fought for the glory and protection of Vale

They wore old and battered armor covered in rust and carried a weapon that was said to be just as worn as they were

Despite this they never stopped fighting whenever Vale was threatened

Soldiers would often claim that they saw the Rusted One standing upon a hill before a great battle

Whenever the Rusted One was seen Vale would supposedly achieve victory

Nobody knows what became of the knight

Some say they died defending Vale

Others say they still wander the kingdom appearing whenever Vale is in danger

The Rusted One became a symbol of courage perseverance and fighting for others rather than seeking glory

The Maiden

The tale of the Maiden tells of a time when the farming lands of Vale had become barren because of a Grimm infestation

The crops had withered and the farmers feared that their families would starve

Then a young girl suddenly appeared among the dying fields

Nobody knew where she came from

The Maiden walked among the crops and touched the infected land

Wherever she walked the Grimm corruption disappeared and the crops began growing again

The crops eventually became healthier than they had ever been and produced enough food to sustain the surrounding settlements for years

When the farmers returned to thank her the Maiden had disappeared

The Maiden became a symbol of life renewal hope and compassion

Her lesson is that nothing should be considered truly lost while someone is willing to nurture it

The Hunter

The tale of the Hunter is said to be the inspiration behind the term Huntsman

The Hunter lived during a time when war was ravaging the world and Vale was too preoccupied with the conflict to properly defend its people from the Grimm

Rather than wait for someone else to protect the people the Hunter took up their weapons and began fighting the Grimm

They travelled from village to village protecting farmers caravans and refugees

They fought the Grimm wherever they appeared and taught ordinary people how to defend themselves

Other warriors eventually followed the Hunter and began dedicating their lives to protecting humanity from the Grimm

Over time the name Hunter became Huntsman

The Hunter is prayed to as a saint of peace defense vigilance and protection

Their lesson is that peace is not simply the absence of war

Peace exists because someone is willing to stand between the innocent and the darkness

The Fisher

The tale of the Fisher is one of bravery during a time when Grimm infestations had made the seas around Vale almost impossible to travel

The fishing villages began starving because the fishermen were too afraid to leave the safety of the harbors

One Fisher refused to accept this

They sailed alone into the Grimm infested seas and fought their way through the waters

Their boat was eventually battered and their nets were nearly destroyed but the Fisher returned home carrying enough fish to feed the kingdom for years

Their actions inspired more and more fishermen from Silver Port to venture beyond the safety of the harbor

The Fisher became a symbol of bravery and determination in the face of necessary danger

Their lesson is not that danger should never be feared

It is that sometimes danger must be faced because refusing to face it creates an even greater danger

The Smith

The faith of the Smith is older than the Seven

Even the idea of Vale itself is said to be younger than the faith of the Smith

The Smith is often depicted as a mysterious figure standing beside an eternal forge

They are seen as a guardian of death and rebirth

According to the oldest stories the souls of the dead eventually arrive before the Smith

The Smith does not judge them and does not punish them

Instead they take the soul to their forge and place it upon their anvil

There they break away the experiences of the previous life and reforge the soul before sending it back into the world to begin a new life

Because of this death is not seen as an ending to followers of the Smith

It is simply another stage in the process of being reforged

The Smith is often compared to a Grim Reaper or a figure similar to Hades but they are not seen as an evil figure

They are a caretaker of the dead and a creator of new life

Their followers believe that fearing death is like fearing a forge because it is hot

The forge may be frightening but its purpose is to create something new

The central teaching of the Smith is

Nothing is gone just remade anew

The Mason

-During one of the worst Grimm migrations of the Great War refugees fled into the mountains there were no fortifications no army could arrive in time

So a builder supposedly gathered everyone who could work

Miners

Children

Soldiers

Farmers

Old people

They worked together for thirty days and thirty nights.

The Mason never slept.

He supposedly built the enormous walls surrounding Ironmound.

On the thirty-first morning, the Grimm horde arrived.

The walls held.

Nobody knows whether the Mason died afterward.

Some say he simply walked into the mountains.

Others say the walls themselves became his body.

At the end of the day his tale is one of perseverance and team work with his followers known to be some of the most helpful and steadfast people you'd meet

Mantle

The old mage

The tale of the old mage was one that shaped mantle

During the early days of the kingdom any settlers in mantle would always get ruined

At some point all hope to make it in mantle seemed lost

Until the arrival of an old mage

This man with his staff in hand would look for survivors people who were half dead or starving leading them to his home a village that only kept growing bigger and bigger until it became mantle

This old mage would be able to create technologies never before seen designs and creations that would help against the cold against the grimm

His name would be lost to time but his staff is immortalised as a symbol of creatives of tinkerers throughout mantle snd atlas with most inventors sporting a staff or cane with unique abilities

Mistral

Nike

Patron god of house Nikos

Was said to be a warrior Queen who lead the states of Argo(now argus) against mistral colonizers spending most of her life leading a victory after victory against them until her death where her successors seemed to never be able to match her prowess or skill which lead to the fall of the Hellenic Nations and there annexation to mistral

Has become one of the symbol during the great war where the Hellenic states into revolting against the Jade empire of mantle where her descendant Alexander Nikos allied with Vale to turn the tides against the great war

The Queen and the lamp

The story goes was an council of all the tribes of mistral gathered to decide who would lead them

From the deadly branwens to the noble Ayanas each had there own claim to the authority

Eventually a challenge was placed where the last emperor of mistral gave them a test

One by one each champion would fail

Until a girl with a lamp arrived who seemed to breeze through every challenge

Eventually when the old emperor asked how she survived the riddles the traps and tests

She'd claim her knowledge helped her down the path

She was named Empress after that and became the one who made the lamp the symbol of knowledge throughout mistral with them inventing the first form of of a projector where messages were hidden in lampnrolls that were slotted inside them to show secrets hidden within

Team RWBY

Ruby - Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz

Look I know Theodore is mean to be Dorothy but by the brothers she is literally going through a similar journey to Dorothy going to kingdom to kingdom meeting the yellow brick gang but each member instead of being an ally against the witch turn against her

Blake - Esmeralda/Mowgli

Esmeralda from Hunchback of Notre Dame with the romani as the faunus and her as Esmeralda not really sure yet what else to do involving it I just think it kinda fits Blake

As for Mowgli I have her dad and mom be ghira and sienna with Kali and sienna fused into one

Blake is an orphan into he sense she was kidnapped as a child and her mother went to war becoming more violent while her father was the one who still wanted to coexist

Blake grows up with an adoptive dad possibly Pietro who gives her the belle experience until she gets left behind with other faunus to the grimm and rescued by the fang and eventually joins them becoming mainly the distraction or spy hardly ever getting into the knitty gritty part until she gets partnered more with adam

Team JNPR

Jaune - Prince Charming

Pretty much he's more of a failed prince charming what with the whole Weiss thing

Meanwhile with cinder he technically will go on to try and return a glass slipper

Or in this case a glass arrow through cinder's heart

As for that last prince he does succeed in being

Pyrrha - Helen of Sparta/sleeping beauty/one of the saints Joan of arc sees

Simple enough pyrrha in my au is someone who's been told what her life would be what she's destined to do destined to be told that she will achieved great things and has had no agency in her choices somewhat like Helen not having agency when Aphrodite traded her away to Paris

As for sleeping beauty I have her survive in my au but in a coma like amber was having been saved by the ace ops after the arrow shot with ruby having done her silver eyes before pyrrha got burned

As for the saints thing she ends up as a spirit her aura following jaune around during the mistral arc and only being strong enough for him to see when he unlocks his semblance and accidentally boosted her aura

Ren - Shang

Basically his dad was based more on the general from the movie

Ren was technically local nobility or atleast upper class in the town with his dad being the mayor and head of the village having his kuroyuri Rangers beignt he main militia watching over the place

Ren loses his father

That's mostly it

Criminals

Roman and Neo- Honest John and Gideon

Honestly wanted more to the characters and wanted Roman to be the son of a faunus and a human but wasn't born with any distinguishable traits apart from fox eyes

Neo has a cats flexibility snd whiskers though I'm not set in the whiskers and might switch Roman and Neo's faunus parts

Though I will be having them interact with penny more during vol 1 to 3

Salem - the Magic Mirror

Since she can't leave evernight castle she can only talk through her seer grimm that act like mirrors hence Magic mirror

Each member of Salem's cabal has a mirror that they can talk to Salem to with Salem also working to have her seals removed

Jaune Pyrrha Weiss and Blake (Jaune and Pyrrha)(Blake and Weiss)

Ruby yang Ren and Nora(Ruby and Yang)(Ren and Nora)

So these are the two teams that formed instead of team jnpr and team rwby

How would the story change with them

Will team RRYN still be going after the white fang

Or would that end up falling to team ASBN

I have 2 that I think would work really well

Archivist

-a specialized Huntsman who spend most of there time in field research going through ruins and lost cities to uncover most of the history they could've forgotten

-known characters who are Archivists is professor oobleck

Messenger

-aura users who have bare minimum training when it comes to a fight and spend there time traveling between the settlements to deliver letters and messages and are often used by poorer villages who can't afford a cct station and most of the time messengers are what happens to students who don't end up making the cut in academy initiations as an alternative

-known characters who are Messengers deery from the white fang one of the white fangs safest methods of communication with there messengers being considered one of the best in the business as not only as faunus they can continue the journey at night

They are also most of the time as combat trained as a 2nd year huntsman student

By that I mean how do you write the celebrity title of pyrrha how do you have Pyrrha feel like she's dealing with the problems of being placed on a pedestal or to jsut flesh out her character more

A few ideas i had was to have Pyrrha wearing a disguise when they head into Vale or just asking jaune Ren and Nora what to get from vale

Weiss upping the ante on trying to befriend pyrrha but there meeting in the locker leaving a bad impression on her with vol 1 Weiss practically being the exact person Pyrrha doesn't like spending time with due to Weiss acting all fan girly

Hey maybe even pull a Komi can't communicate with Jaune helping Pyrrha be friends with the rest of team jnpr and rwby Ren and Nora being a bit star struck about Pyrrha because duh they're from mistral maybe make it more prominent same goes for Team rwby with yang itching to fight her and seef she can match pyrrha Blake being a bit curious about pyrrha since despite coming fromt he racist kingdom pyrrha is humble and has no I'll will towards faunus or have Blake end up assuming pyrrha to be all high and mighty towards others

You could honestly make it an arc where jauen helps Pyrrha befriend them like setting up Pyrrha and ruby training in The shooting range and have ruby geek out on Pyrrha's weapon getting her and Pyrrha something to talk to

Hell have coco be someone she can bind with about the problems of Celebrity statuses by making coco the Pyrrha of vale to bring some more relevancy to team cfvy have the confident leader of team cfvy be the one giving Pyrrha advice on confidence maybe even being the one to suggest to have pyrrha admit her feelings to jaune at the dance

Another idea was have pyrrha and penny be friends or know of each other before the final fight have penny be there the day of her being asked aboutt he aura transfer and if you want toske pyrrha the maiden early have penny be Pyrrha's bodyguard to keep pyrrha safe

That's about all I have for now but would love to see what else everyone does

Mercury Black

Son of Marcus black a hired killer for any of the Mistral crime families known to basically be the boogey man and a huntsman killer only overshadowed by Tyrian callows

Mercury was the result of an affair Marcus had with a girl from a branch of the Vasillias family who dumped Marcus on his feet not wanting to raise him and getting a large sum for hush money

Marcus decided to train mercury as his successor to be the one who'd overtake him and continue his legacy kinda like David Cain with Cassandra Cain

Mercury would've been taught to be like a living weapon someone who's skills are honed to perfection to practically be able to figure out someone's fighting style from a few moves and learn the best ways to counter them

But in taskmaster fashion if his enemy is too strong for him to take on he bails first chance he gets

His semblance that was locked away is similar to Fa Jin from MHA where he can build up kinetic energy to make himself run faster hit harder etc

But his father Marcus locked it away so mercury wouldn't rely on it wanting mercury to know how to fight without it

Eventually after a final argument with his father that led to mercury and him duking it out with mercury losing his legs in the process while Marcus dying giving a smile to his son being the first time Marcus was ever proud of him made mercury gain a mentality that as long as he's useful he's worth something

It doesn't help that cinder and Emerald arrive offering him sanctuary so long as he works for them further reinforcing his mentality

Once the vytal arc starts he actually does let loose a bit being a bit of a flirt and outgoing more so than cinder and Emerald to keep up the act even getting a bit of a rivalry with yang that he keeps up whenever the two end up meeting flirting with her much to Yang's annoyance even going we match when he sees her robotic arm

That's about all I've got for him apart from him gaining a rival based on Apollo who is hunting him down fort he sins his father commited as Mistral has a sins of the father style law
