Discord server ban wave due to Superstar chart theft

Earlier today, we made the decision to ban a number of people from our Discord server who were also members of the Superstar Discord server, and were not already known to us as being genuine members of the Beatclone community. This was not a decision we made lightly, but it was done due to increasing instances of custom charts made by our community being stolen by Cadenverse, the developers of the Beatstar clone currently on app stores known as 'Superstar - Music Game'.

Superstar has just recently released a pack of "new" songs in their game, many of which we have confirmed from their own videos are 1:1 replicas of custom charts shared in the Beatstar Mods Discord server #workshop channel. These are charts that our amazing charting community invested their free time to create for fellow Beatclone players to enjoy for free, that have now been taken without their consent and placed into a monetised game to generate profit for a company many of us do not support.

We have already taken measures to try and mitigate this issue, since it's not the first time custom charts have been stolen by Superstar, but despite banning all the developers from the server they clearly still had accounts in there that they have been using to steal charts from the workshop. As a result we made the difficult decision to ban anybody who could potentially be alt accounts of theirs or sharing charts with them.

If you have been removed from the Beatclone Discord and are unable to rejoin, and you are also a member of the Superstar server, you have most likely been caught in this ban wave. While we apologise to any innocent people caught up in this, these bans will not be reversed or eligible for appeal at this point in time while this issue with Superstar is still ongoing. The people who give up their free time to chart for Beatclone are the ones who make it as great as it is, and so we have to do what we can to protect their work from copyright infringement.

These bans may be reversed at some point in the future if we are able to work with the Superstar devs to get the stolen content removed from their game and for them to stop doing this in the future, but attempts at communication have so far been unsuccessful.

Check out our newly updated FAQ for help with the app!

We've just added a new, fully up to date FAQ page on our website, with detailed information on the common errors and installation issues people have with Beatclone, and troubleshooting steps on how to fix them. Check it out here:

https://beatclone.com/f-a-q/

We hope this helps those of you who may be having difficulties with installation or error messages, especially since our previous troubleshooting guides weren't publicly available and were confined to our Discord server.

Feel free to suggest anything you think may be missing from this guide! We hope to continue working on and improving it in the future.

Is there any way to disable the ability to ping roles in just one channel?

I run a server where we have a few roles set to be pingable by everyone - ideally I would have liked these to only be pingable by a few specific members/roles, but discord doesn't appear to give you that option, it's either pingable by everybody or only by people with the "mention @everyone and @here" permission which I don't want to be giving out to regular server members.

We've also recently had to set up a honeypot channel using carlbot to automatically ban those MrBeast crypto scammers. The problem is that some of them have started to look for pingable roles in the server and ping them when they send their spam messages, so even though it gets deleted when carl bans, people with the role are still getting pings from that channel.

What I would like to do is disable the ability to ping roles just in that channel, if it's not possible to limit the ability to ping those pingable roles to certain people, but I also haven't found a way to do this. I can't use automod to block the role ping because then the message will be blocked completely and carl won't ban them, so they'll just go spam in the other channels.

The only solution I can think of right now is turning off the "make role mentionable by everyone", giving the few people who need to ping those roles the "mention @everyone and @here" permission, and then automod blocking @everyone and @here so it can't be abused/accidentally used, since I really don't want them to be able to ping @everyone. This would also give them the ability to ping other, usually non-pingable roles which I also don't want.

Is there any solution I might have missed? Also why are discord permissions set up this way? It's a really frustrating and unintuitive way of doing things to have the only options be "let every single person in the server ping this role" or "let server members who need to ping this role ping every single other role and also the entire server".
